Dear Rondout Families and Faculty,

Next week Rondout will be hosting an Arts Night Open House. Stop by and walk the halls to see the beautiful art work and view videos of the students performing in music class. Members of the band will be providing live music in the hallways and parents can stroll through the halls enjoying the sights and sounds.    From 6:30 to 7:00 p.m. families can enjoy the art and from 7:00 to 7:30 p.m.  families may check out their child’s portfolio of this year’s art and retrieve their child’s art on display. You will be simply amazed by the exquisite art made by your children and the melodious messages in the music program videos along with the live music. We are so proud and grateful for our fabulous arts teachers, Mrs. Boyer and Ms. Ausmann who help your children cultivate their artistic and creative talents.

Eighth Grade parents are invited to a special zoom meeting on Wednesday May 5th at 7 p.m. to go over the details of the upcoming 8th grade trip to Springfield on May 9th and 10th. We will also be discussing the various graduation activities and details on the ceremony, parade and pre-graduation fun.

The Green Club is working on getting the garden ready for planting. Once again we will be hosting family garden parties this summer to help care for the garden, harvest when produce is ripe and ready for picking and packing our donations to the food pantry. Look for more information as we get closer to the end of the school year.

Does your child have any outstanding library books? We encourage you to start looking now as we want to make sure our collection is restored before the end of the year. If you truly cannot find the missing books, we can also let  you know the cost to replace it. We would much prefer to have the books back so we encourage you to do a deep dive and see if you can find any of the books that you have not been able to return yet. Mrs. Jacob will send a reminder out with what you are missing if you have outstanding books.

We are still collecting paperback books for the Veterans at the VA Hospital and toys, treats, food, newspapers and dog towels/blankets for Orphans of the Storm. We will continue the collections through Monday May 16th.  Our donations to the Ukraine went out last week. Two large semi-trailers were packed and loaded with donations from the schools in Lake County including Rondout on the first day of collection. Thank you for your generosity of time, talent and treasure.

Next week is Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week. We are fortunate to have such a dedicated and talented staff who are committed to providing each child with the best possible experience. Our thanks go out to each and every one.

Wishing you all a lovely weekend and a great week ahead.

Until next time... Take care...

Sunflowers of Kindness

This video highlights the sunflower art created by the students in grades K-7 to support the Sunflower Project. The sunflower art will be used for the seed packets going out to the community.  Thanks to Mrs. Jacob and Mrs. Reed who worked their technology magic to create this video and to transfer the art to our seed packets.  Thanks also to the 8th grade for their assistance in putting together all the components of the packets from the inside to outside.  We expect to finish the project next week.  We hope that our families will be planting the seeds we sent home earlier this trimester and share photos of the sunflowers in their gardens.  Sowing seeds of Kindness brings he Rondout Way to Life.
