Department Highlight: Administration Technology Services

administration technology services team all-staff meeting january 2023

Administration Technology Services (ATS) provides technology support and project management services to Business Affairs departments, including Delivery Services, Parking and Transportation Services, Risk Management & Safety, Telecommunications, and the Work Order Control Unit.

Led by Rebecca Paulson, the ATS team, which includes Daina Mwangi, Franziska Freking, Jonathan Lee, Naseem Benjelloun, Nour Benjelloun, Regina "Reggie" Bailey, Sang Yi, Stephen Valine, Tiffany Felton, and Timothy Bronander, assists with everything from technology procurement and setup to troubleshooting and maintenance. Other services include the development, implementation, and modification of applications and the design, improvement, and documentation of business processes.

The project management organization (PMO) handles management and support for any kind of special project, even if it doesn’t include an IT component. Some projects that ATS is involved in include the RebelDocs implementation and owning and operating the campus services portal for TeamDynamix (TDX). Any ticket that's created outside of OIT is shown in the service catalog, therefore ATS created a governance group to manage it.

Other projects include incorporating single sign-on into the parking management software and developing a business case for operations management & materials (O&M) planning, that will cut costs on expansions, staffing, and maintenance for campus buildings.

This team of technology experts and project managers isn’t just all work and no play. They know how to have fun outside of work too. Once a month the entire ATS department gets together for an afternoon of card games, trivia, and other fun things to bring back the social interaction that was missing during the pandemic.

Spotlight on Service

The fourth annual Business Affairs customer service survey results are in and our teams received a number of kudos for providing exceptional customer service. Here are a few examples of the positive feedback received:

“The Administration Technology Services (ATS) area has been a leader in Business Affairs with amazing ideas and has helped to shift the culture one unit at a time. They communicate, have a great project management team, and hold people accountable to get work done. They go above and beyond.”

“The ATS group is very talented and is committed to improving efficiencies with new technologies, improved workflows, and business process redesign.”

Celebrating Women's History Month

March is Women’s History Month and Business Affairs is proud to celebrate the countless contributions women have made to American history. UNLV Libraries maintains a curated database of women-focused resources, photographs, and more for the campus and local communities to learn from and enjoy. Here are a couple of events to keep on your radar:

On March 8 at 4 p.m., celebrate International Women's Day with a women's panel and networking mixer with women who are leaders in the Las Vegas business community. The panel and mixer will consist of female CEOs, lawyers, and veterans who are all part of a new exciting book and initiative called "Women Who Boss Up Las Vegas." Visit the UNLV Calendar to learn more about the panelists and how to register.

On March 22 at 11:30 a.m., join the Women's Council for their annual membership meeting. The meeting will review work carried out, highlight current initiatives/projects, and provide opportunities to be in conversation with Women's Council members from across campus while generating ideas for the next year. Lunch will also be provided. Visit the UNLV Calendar to learn more and how to register.

Check out the UNLV Calendar for a complete listing of events.

Duane Phillips (left) and Daniel Landeros (right), fire inspectors with Risk Management & Safety’s Fire and Life Safety team, recently completed the fire investigator course provided by the Nevada State Fire Marshal. The course provided training and education for them to investigate the origin and cause of a fire. Fire investigator certification will allow them to assist if a fire occurs at UNLV’s Maryland or Shadow Lane campuses and Nevada State College. Congratulations Duane and Daniel!
