·      March 10 - Dog Tag Virtual Open House, 4pm ET/3pm CT
Visit with Dog Tag staff and alumni and learn more about our innovative transition program, what we're looking for in our applicants, and what it's like to be a part of the Dog Tag community.
 
·      March 10 - Matters of the Heart, 12-1pm. Join Blue Star Families and Johns Hopkins US Family Health Plan as we provide our neighbors with impactful and relevant information. During the season of love, the matters of the heart can take on many different forms – including heart health. Join us for this workshop to learn more about:
· The different types of heart disease
· How to lower risk factors for better health
· The warning signs of a heart attack and how to prepare a heart-healthy plan
 
Influenced by materials created by the American Heart Association and the Centers for Disease Control, Matters of the Heart is a workshop geared towards increasing participant knowledge about heart disease and the importance of self-management for living well. This 60-minute workshop will provide participants with basic information about heart disease and provide the resources and skills needed to help them decrease their risk.
Great giveaways are provided for the first 50 who register and attend!

·      March 23- May 25, 6-7:30pm (Wednesdays) - HoCo Higher: Accelerator Business Program. A transformative entrepreneur accelerator program in partnership with M&T Bank. The empowering program teaches early-stage and historically under-served entrepreneurs the essentials of business planning, operations, credit building, digital communication, and financial management. Top business mentors, coaches and subject matter experts will lead the intensive 10-week bootcamp at no cost to participants. To apply, please click here. 
 
·      March 23 - Healing with HOPE: unMASKing the Hurt Caused by Trauma (Free Webinar), 1pm EST/10am PST. Join our panelists for a discussion about the journey of recovering from trauma (includes resources). The Muster is a bi-monthly, joint effort event where veterans from all eras, active duty military, and the community that supports them are invited to a meetup style get together. Enjoy free food, valuable information, and great company while meeting current and former service members from throughout the area. You'll have the chance to learn from and share information about various organizations and resources that do great work here in the Baltimore veteran space!

Maryland Business Works - The Maryland Department of Commerce recently announced the return of Maryland Business Works, an incumbent worker training program designed to boost employee skills while creating opportunities for new hires in highly-demanded occupations. Maryland Business Works underscores the value of private sector businesses with 500 employees or fewer. It provides resources for classroom-based and in-house training, apprenticeship programs, and other recruitment and retention initiatives to cultivate the pipeline of local talent.

·      VA Older Event Support - VA offers a wide range of Home and Community Services for older Veterans and those with extended care needs. Visit va.gov/Geriatrics to learn about these services:
VA’s Geriatrics and Extended Care team is dedicated to helping you and your family caregivers connect with the right resources throughout your health care journey. Talk with a social worker at a VA Medical Center or Community-Based Outpatient Clinic near you. Looking ahead, the number of Veterans of all ages who are eligible for nursing home care is estimated to expand from about 2 million Veterans now to about 4 million Veterans by 2039. As this population grows, VA remains steadfast in providing the highest levels of care to Veterans in the least restrictive settings, with plans to expand the Home Based Primary Care, Medical Foster Home and Veteran-Directed Care programs to all VA medical centers by the end of fiscal year 2026.

·      Operation Second Chance Retreats Open Now! OSC helps heroes move on by providing rest, recreation and tranquility for Veterans, First Responders, and their families. Located at Heroes Ridge at Raven Rock, this beautiful 275-acre retreat center is on the Maryland/Pennsylvania border with four cabins (two of which are fully ADA-compliant), a pool, dining hall, recreation center, gym and miles of trails for hiking, ATV and horseback riding. This is a year-round center for those with a 70% VA disability or LEO’s and First Responders injured in the line of duty. Ski retreats are for Veterans, couples and caregivers and are completely FREE. OSC covers all costs.

·      Veterans Conservation Corps (VCC) empowers veterans and s them in conservation service work on public lands. The VCC’s work in State Parks uses veterans’ unique background, diverse job skills and service ethic to address pressing conservation needs on public lands. The focus of the VCC is to develop veterans professionally through training and on the job experience within the Maryland Park Service and the Department of Natural Resources. ·      Boots to Business - B2B is an entrepreneurial education and training program offered by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) as part of the Department of Defense Transition Assistance Program (TAP). The course provides an overview of entrepreneurship and applicable business ownership fundamentals. Active Duty Service members (including National Guard and Reserve), Veterans of all eras, and spouses are eligible to participate.
 
·      Howard and Anne Arundel County Career ReStart program - Traditional job searching is no longer effective. We can teach you how to proactively campaign for jobs, just like politicians do. Through AAWDC’s Career ReStart training you will develop powerful self-marketing tools and implement strategies that promote confidence and courage that result in rapid employment.
