Cambridge Systematics is Winner of CoMotion's Miami Mobility Challenge Powered by I-STREET
Congratulations to Cambridge Systematics for being selected as the winner of the CoMotion Miami Mobility Challenge powered by I-STREET. The teams utilized data from the I-STREET living lab to develop solutions to ensure the safety of bicyclists and pedestrians and improve mobility and efficiency. I-STREET is a collaboration of the University of Florida, the Florida Department of Transportation, and the City of Gainesville. Read more and see images and a recording of the event here.

Congratulations to the UF Team for Winning the 2021 Virtual Concrete Canoe Competition
Students from the UF H.W. College of Engineering competed in the 2021 concrete canoe competition, which was held June 25-27, 2021 as a virtual event. The UF canoe this year was named the Polligator for its theme of pollination and honeybees. The team placed Top 3 in all three categories: 2nd Place in the Technical Proposal category; 2nd place in the Technical Presentation category; and 3rd Place in the Enhanced Focus Area. Research to Practice Transit Symposium, Oct. 12-14, 2021
Abstracts are now being accepted for the Research to Practice Transit Symposium, which will take place October 12-14, 2021. This symposium will be online and with optional in-person field visits to agencies in Gainesville and Jacksonville, Florida. As the transit industry strives to Build Back Better after COVID-19, the symposium will provide a platform where transit experts share insights into how evidence-based research has been or can be translated into practice. STRIDE Workforce Development Practitioner Survey
The Southeastern Transportation Research, Innovation, Development and Education Center (STRIDE) at the University of Florida needs your help to complete a survey related to the State of Transportation Workforce Development Practice in the Southeastern United States. The intent for this survey is to understand and document best practices in workforce development for the transportation sector and develop a workforce training framework and plan for the southeast region. The survey takes 10 to 20 minutes to complete. Complete the survey here.

UF ITE Student Chapter Competes in the Florida Puerto Rico District ITE Collegiate Traffic Bowl
The University of Florida's Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE)Student Chapter will be competing in the Florida Puerto Rico District ITE Collegiate Traffic Bowl. The event will be held virtually and broadcast on ITE's YouTube channel this Thursday, July 1 at 6:00 PM, ET. The Traffic Bowl is a Jeopardy-style game where students test their knowledge in transportation topics against other teams. Click here to view the live broadcast.

UF Transportation Engineering Professor Attends Summer 2021 Florida Puerto Rico ITE Meeting, Engages with Alumni
Dr. Scott Washburn, a transportation engineering professor with the UF Department of Civil & Coastal Engineering, attended the Florida Puerto Rico Institute of Transportation Engineers (FLPRITE) meeting in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida on June 23 and 24 and met up with several former students of the UF transportation engineering program.

UFTI's T2 Center Offers Course on Transportation Data Analytics
Data offers solutions to existing transportation challenges as well as opening the door to the next generation of transportation developments. As more sensors are added to roadway infrastructure and vehicles themselves, opportunities are created to advance traffic signal timing efficiency and enhance safety applications for traditional vehicles as well as for connected and autonomous vehicles (CAVs). This course will provide participants with the tools to collect, validate, and analyze transportation data.
