Dear Fourth-Grade Parents/Guardians,
During the 2nd semester, your child will begin to participate in various Career Exploration activities. In February, they will have an exciting opportunity to participate in a “Lunch and Learn" Career Speaker Series.
This activity will take place during the 4th-grade lunch & recess period on Tuesdays for 4 weeks. The professionals that will be coming to visit our 4th-grade students at IPS are:
- Project Manager/Engineer for a Construction Company Specializing in Educational Facilities: February 1st, 2022

City of Independence Leadership (Police Chief, Clerk of Courts, Community Service Director, Council Person, (possibly) Mayor): February 8th, 2022

Medical Professionals (Cardiologist, Chief Medical Officer of a hospital system, Nurse Practitioner): February 15, 2022
- Founders & Directors of a Non-Profit Equine Therapy Organization, Hope Meadows Ohio: February 22, 2022
Fourth graders must sign up for the desired profession that they would like to learn about. It is encouraged that students sign up for at least one speaker. There will be limited space for each speaker, so it will be on a first-come, first-serve basis. The sign-up form has been posted on the students' Career Exploration Google Classroom. Please discuss with your student and make their choices prior to February 1st.
Very important: because this speaker series takes place during recess AND lunch, the students will not be able to leave the presentation to buy that day. We will be providing plain Romitos pizza, bottled water, and fruit. If the students do not want pizza, they must pack a lunch. There is no option to buy a lunch if attending the speaker series.
