WOLFHOUND WEDNESDAY
January 12, 2022
The 4th graders learned a lot by researching and learning about what they might be called to do as their vocation later on in life.
The O'Reilly Minute
Dear Parents,

Thank you for your prayers and support during this time! We continue to see a rise in COVID cases in our community. Thankfully we have been able to maintain in-person learning as our teachers and staff have been flexible in covering for staff absences.

As we continue to see a sustained amount of student absences due to positive cases and/or quarantines, we want to remind parents that we are currently not offering remote learning on an individual basis. If an entire class, grade level, or the school would need to close in-person learning for a period of time, that is when we may implement remote learning.

Currently, if a student is out because of COVID or a quarantine, Mrs. Bridget DeSocio coordinates with teams and families in regards to assignments. Teachers share a schedule with students, and they may also be using Google Classroom to post assignments. Live classes will be offered when appropriate.

You should have received an email via FACTS last Friday with instructions for completing your re-enrollment for the 22-23 school year. Thank you to the many who have already completed this process. If you have not yet, please do so by this Friday, January 14. Instructions for completing re-enrollment are in the article below.

If you (or a friend or neighbor) have a child new to our preschool or K-8 school for the 22-23 school year, please remember the on-time deadline for new student applications is this Sunday, January 16. You can read more about that process here.

Enjoy the upcoming holiday weekend with your families!

Blessings,
Kathy O'Reilly

  • Please go to www.factsmgt.com
  • Select Parent Log In from the menu bar and FACTS Family Portal from the drop-down menu.

If you have a child new to our preschool or K-8 school for the 22-23 school year, please complete the new child registration by this Sunday, January 16.

Your honest commitment at this time is vital to our planning. We are currently operating at maximum capacity in many of our grades, which will limit acceptance of new families to our school community. We are dedicated to serving our current families and want to make sure that you re-enroll on time (by January 14th) in order to guarantee your child's seat for the 2022-23 school year.

Security Hounds Tips & Updates
We will be conducting our school safety drill this Thursday, January 13. It will focus on one aspect of our plan regarding reinforcing the Barricading Principles taught in case they have to secure in a room.

HELPFUL SAFETY TIP FOR ACTIVE VIOLENCE IN A SCHOOL OR BUSINESS:
We were hoping to be able to start offering once again the in- person training for Active Violence Preparedness. Unfortunately, COVID protocols are preventing that currently. If you have any questions on this type of training for schools and businesses and how we instruct those principles here, please reach out to me. In short, I have taught this for years and I follow best practices from a variety of programs with a heavy emphasis on A.L.i.C.E. principles.

HELPFUL TECH SAFETY TIP:
If you have not heard of Apple Airtags, you may want to be aware of how these (relatively inexpensive $29.00) devices can be used as a device to stalk someone. They are meant to help people locate or keep track of items such as keys or a backpack that is lost.
Unfortunately, with every good intention for technology it can be used in a bad way. A person can surreptitiously place this device on you, your belongings, and or your vehicle. Apple says that if that happens the device will emit a sound and if you have an Apple device it will alert you that an Airtag (that is not yours) is on you. The problem seems to be that the notification to you tends to happen once you are home, therefore your stalker now has your address.
Please see the following links that illustrate the potential abuse of these Airtags and be aware that our children may be aware of this and consider it a harmless prank.
