IYM Sunday:
The IYM Advancement Committee would love to start a prayer team that would join that committee in prayer as we endeavor together to meet the program needs and financial goals for IYM. This is a wonderful way for anyone within IYM to join the work going on in IYM as we continue to 'be disciples of Jesus Christ and make disciples of Jesus Christ’. Please contact Damon Seacott (clerk of the Advancement Committee) or Pat Byers if you are interested.

From the Christian Service Committee:
The Christian Service Committee will be providing another webinar via Zoom on March 15 at 6:30 pm. The webinar will feature John Trimble, Director of Spiritual Life at Josiah White’s. Here is a short descriptor of what John plans to share: My teaching is going to be based on Luke 6:27-36. A climate of Covid, racism, political unrest, threats to freedom, gender and sexuality issues is the perfect soil for the love of Christ to be planted, watered, and see flourishing; but only if we are relying on the love that He first gave to us and not our cheap, self-serving, self-manufactured love. Please plan to join the Zoom.

Good Morning!
Page 34 of the 2018 (latest) version of or IYM Faith and Practice includes this quote from the Richmond Declaration of Faith, "all war is utterly incompatible with the plain precepts of our divine Lord and Lawgiver.”
This is a small slice of the testimony we declare as Friends for peace. Based on matters of all human life being precious at all stages and in all circumstances, this testimony has been a core value in our Friends movement for centuries.
As news coverage is, yet again, dominated by tanks, guns, and bloodshed, it is a good time to be reminded of this testimony.
And let us also remember a verse that is cited in that Richmond Declaration in this peace section: Matthew 5:44. It reads: “But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.”
Please pray for peace in this rising conflict in the Ukraine. Pray for the innocent people who are either losing their lives, or having them uprooted. Pray for families who are attempting to escape the violence. Pray for world leaders who are directly involved that the peace of Christ would prevail in their hearts and they would be led to peaceful solutions rather than war. Pray for other places in the world where conflict may be leading towards violence. Pray our God will move people to peaceful solutions.
-Pat Byers
