Bike Fort Collins Attends the National Bike Summit in D.C.
This year’s National Bike Summit, hosted by the League of American Bicyclists, was a huge success drawing dedicated bicycle advocates from all over the country. As a hybrid summit, attendees were able to participate in person or virtually, allowing access for those who would not otherwise have been able to make it, and providing some much needed face-to-face time for those who were--including BFC's own, Anna Kelso. A joyous reunion for many who have missed the exponential creative energy that inevitably multiplies when you gather enough bike minded folks together in the spirit of a more Bicycle Friendly America. Bike Fort Collins Delivers SRTS Curriculum in Loveland
We were excited and proud to have been invited this week by the Thompson School to deliver an Education & Encouragement program to Ponderosa Elementary School in conjunction with one of their recent CDOT SRTS infrastructure grants. The grant covered a new raised pedestrian crossing equipped with a Rectangular-Rapid Flashing Beacon (RRFB) (“Raised Crossing”) on Kincaid Drive, immediately adjacent to the school. The Education & Encouragement program was intended to do just that, teach the students how to use the new crossing safely while encouraging them to walk or ride their bikes to school and subsequently utilize the new infrastructure more. You Know Me Us. I We Ride a Bike. - Team B.O.B.
If you look at the Facebook page for Team B.O.B—that’s Babes on Bikes, you’ll wonder why these people are having so much and you aren’t out there having it with them? Picture after picture is of beautiful rides and smiling faces! Founded in 1992 by Susan Chaffee, Team B.O.B. is its own community, or sisterhood of women diverse in age, careers, and stages of life who share a love of being outdoors and riding. But, community isn’t something that Team B.O.B. has cultivated only within their group. Giving back and fostering community outside of their group has been a pillar of the Team B.O.B. philosophy. Membership Business Partners are business members of BFC, who also provide a special incentive (i.e. offer, discount or perk) for our individual and family members.
This month we want to highlight and thank Membership Business Partner: Velofix
Velofix is a mobile bike repair serving the Fort Collins area. Scheduling service is as simple as 1) You Book (an appointment online or via phone), 2) They Fix (your bike at the time and place you schedule), 3) You Ride (saving time so you can ride more). And, BFC members who are new to Velofix receive 10% off any Basic or Major tune-up.
BFC is also especially grateful to Velofix as a founding sponsor of our Wish for Wheels Foco program that began in 2020 with the goal to provide a new bike & helmet to every second-grader in PSD's Title 1 elementary schools. We are now accepting donations for this year's 2022 Wish for Wheels FoCo program.
