Railroad Workers United has published our 2022 Annual Report highlighting RWU's accomplishments for the calendar year. RWU members are encouraged to read it over to get a comprehensive view of what your organization has been doing this past year. In addition, we hope all railroad workers, retirees, and family members - along with our allies in the labor movement and other social movements - will likewise look it over. RWU members are encouraged to share this Report with co-workers who might be curious about RWU, who we are, and what we do. Feel free to use it as an organizing tool.
We had hoped to publish this Report earlier in the year. However, the disaster at East Palestine, OH and the accompanying spotlight on rail safety that ensued captured RWU's focus for much of the winter/spring months. In addition, the scale and scope of RWU activity last year was unprecedented, requiring time to properly reflect and take stock. Now, here is the final product!
Within its pages, you'll read about a singular year for our 15-year old organization — one of dramatically increased activity, vigor, and growth. Railroad Workers United has come to be recognized and understood by railroaders as a powerful voice for solidarity, unity, and democracy within the ranks, while becoming ever more influential in rail labor, the rail industry, and the larger labor movement.
The energy and momentum of 2022 has carried us forward to a position of strategic planning, capacity building, and growth in 2023 — to which we owe a debt of gratitude, not just to our members and allies, but to all railroad workers of North America.
