UC Davis Report on Caregiving in California

As part of the California Caregiver Resource Centers, SCRC participates in an annual report to evaluate the ever-changing needs of family caregivers throughout the state.

The report, produced by UC Davis Health, found that family caregivers in California who tap into a statewide network of support organizations are at higher risk of mental and physical health decline than the general population of caregivers.

SCRC'S Caregiver of the Month Spotlight: Paola

Help us celebrate Paola as our Caregiver of the Month! Paola is a part-time caregiver for her mother with psoriasis, and arterial hypertension. Her 72-year-old mother is a strong, independent woman, who can care for herself. Paola is in touch with her mother throughout the day to make sure she is taking her medication, monitoring her high blood pressure, and keeping and active lifestyle. Paola helps her mother with medical appointments, financial support, and companionship.

“Although my mother does most of the things on her own, I still stress about her health. I want to make sure that she feels my support and love every day. I understand that my mother will eventually need me around the clock, but because I’ve been part of her routine for so long, I’m confident I will be able to manage her caregiving needs as they progress. I follow SCRC on social media and I’m thankful to have a daily reminder that I matter as much as my mother does.”
Are you a family caregiver? Share your story! We want to recognize your dedication and love by nominating you as our caregiver of the month
