We've officially entered fall and at least some cooler weather. September was a busy month in Blue Springs. We celebrated the return of the Blue Springs Fall Fun Festival and I thoroughly enjoyed being out amongst the community again at this beloved event. I also had the opportunity to recognize two of our great Blue Springs residents as the Truman Heartland Community Foundation's Blue Springs Citizens of the Year. Dale Carter and Cindy Miller worked tirelessly to promote the renewal of the Blue Springs Parks Sales Tax last April and because of their work, we'll continue to see Parks updates for years to come.

Blue Springs Police Host 2021 National Night Out |
|
On Tuesday, October 5 the Blue Springs Police Department hosted National Night Out Against Crime 2021. This celebratory block party featured public safety and law enforcement demonstrations, displays and vehicles from the Blue Springs Police Department, Central Jackson County Fire Protection District, and other local public safety agencies.

2021 Blue Springs Fall Fun Festival |

We had a great time at the 2021 Fall Fun Festival Parade on September 18. It was wonderful to see the community come back together again for this wonderful tradition. I'm already looking forward to next year's Fall Fun Festival. A job well-done to the Blue Springs Chamber of Commerce and all their volunteers for hosting such a great event. |

In honor of Constitution Week (September 17-24), the Blue Springs chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution set up a display in the lobby at City Hall to commemorate the adoption of the United States Constitution on September 17, 1787. On September 10, three new tree plaques were place at Veterans Way Memorial. Mayor Carson Ross, Eleanor Frasier and members of the DAR presented a plaque that read, “With Gratitude for Those Who Serve.” Plaques purchased by Betty Allen (right) for her family members, WWII veteran Roy Jackson and Vietnam Veteran, Reginald Jackson (father and son who both served our nation). |
