Dear Rondout Families, Friends and Faculty,

We shared several messages with you today regarding a situation involving police activity in the area of the school. While we do not have details of the activity to share with you, we do want to share that we followed our protocols for safety and the instructional program was impacted minimally. Students remained indoors for recess and later in the afternoon we were able to confirm with the Lake County Sheriff’s Department that the situation had been resolved.   We want to assure you that we will always take every precaution to ensure the safety of our students and faculty.   Ms. Davis spoke with the 3-5 and 6-8 clusters during lunch providing a brief explanation of the situation. We followed our protocols and guidance from the Sheriff’s Department. We appreciate your on-going trust and cooperation.

On another note, while we had one case of COVID reported to us today, there are some new developments in our Shield Testing program. We will be launching the On-Demand testing program which will allow us to distribute self-administered PCR test kits to our families. We expect our shipment of free testing kits next week. We will distribute them to all of our families. These can be used to test anyone in your family circle. If someone is experiencing symptoms, you will be able to collect the sample at home following the directions included in the kit. Samples will be dropped off at the collection spot at Rondout and a courier will pick up the samples each day. PCR test results from the saliva test will go directly to families and the school will not be involved in recording or reporting results. This will be a great free service for families and is expected to be in place through the end of June. More information will follow when the self-test kits are distributed.

The Upper School Valentine’s Dance just concluded and it was wonderful to see how much fun our students had. We were so pleased to be able to bring back this Rondout tradition post COVID. Ms. Davis and I enjoyed chaperoning the dance and seeing how much everyone enjoyed the event. Thanks to DJ “Chickenwings” from 4Sure Entertainment who brought the dance to life for our students.

As always don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns. Hope you enjoy the weekend and Happy Valentine’s Day to all.

Take care…Until next time...

Dr. Jenny Wojcik

Superintendent

Dear Rondout Parents,

Parents, students and teachers across Illinois have an opportunity to participate in the eleventh annual statewide Illinois 5Essentials Survey. This survey is designed to generate a detailed picture of the inner workings of your child’s school. As a parent, this opportunity will allow you to share your thoughts on the important elements of school effectiveness in a survey about Rondout.

4thth through 8th grade students will also be responding to this survey.

Your participation in the parent portion of the survey will help us understand your insights and perspective as an important partner in the school community. Your identity and survey responses will be kept completely confidential and will never be connected to you or your child.

The Illinois 5Essentials Survey for students and parents will be open until March 31, 2023. Students will be taking the survey during school. To take the parent survey please visit https://survey.5-essentials.org/Illinois/ and select the appropriate survey to begin. Be sure to select Rondout as your school. For more information about the Illinois 5Essentials Survey, please reach out to administration.

Yours in Partnership,
