UNIFORM UPDATE
So much information has been sent via email regarding uniforms and other things, we know it's been overwhelming! We thank everyone for your patience as we work thru all the backorder issues and the youth PE replacement pant.
Sonoma Design is working diligently to fulfill backorders as soon as they receive product. Even some orders that were placed after June 30th, may be ready before the original September delivery date.
As for the replacement youth size PE pants that some have sizing issues with, please take your PE pant to the Sonoma Design showroom to exchange for another size. If they don't have it, they'll order for you at no additional cost. This is ONLY for those who received the replacement YOUTH P.E. pants. This is not for those who ordered the wrong size of any other items.
Message from the Principal
Dear St. Rose Parents,

How lovely to see all the children and parents on Monday. It was nice to see so many of you at the prayer service. All the prayer services will be on Fridays unless it is a Mass day. We will continue to have them outside as long as the weather holds. I would love the parents to attend each prayer service and pray with us. The students will no longer be required to wear their dress uniforms on the prayer service days, just on Mass days or other specific days. Our first Friday prayer service will be on Friday, August 26, at 8:15. Please come and be with us.

I want to assure you that we will continue to have all the fun social activities for students and parents that we had before COVID and will add more. The first social event will be Back to School Night, with a dessert social in the gym from 6:30-7 for parents. I promise no speeches or power points, just desserts. This will be an excellent opportunity for people to connect. At 7 o'clock, parents will go to their child's classroom for important information from the teachers. Back to School Night is for parents only.

We are also planning a school Fall Festival for school families on Friday, September 30. This will be a mini fundraiser and an opportunity to spend time together again. More information will be coming as the plans are solidified.
  • Trunk or Treat will rise again this year!!
  • Parents will be able to have dinner and make ornaments for St. Nicholas day
  • Secret Santa store will be open again.

The Parent Association will focus solely on fundraising, social events, and supporting the room parents in activities for the students at school. We have two Co-Presidents and two Co-Room Parent Coordinators. We already have chairpersons for some of the fundraising events that are being planned. Instead of Parent Association monthly meetings, there will only be three or four gatherings of the Parent Association a year. These will be socials with opportunities to connect, brainstorm, and enjoy each other's company, with refreshments, of course. Once we have all the chairpersons in place for our events, they will meet with the co-presidents to establish dates, budgets, themes, etc.

I look forward to a fun and exciting year ahead for the Parent Association with excellent parent involvement. Mrs. B and I will continue to be involved with the Co-Presidents and Co-Room Parent Coordinators.

I am excited for the year ahead and look forward to a sense of normalcy.

God’s Blessings,
Kathleen

Thank you to all who asked to be considered either a head or support room parent when completing your Essential Forms. Head room parents will work directly with the teacher and Parent Association Room Parent Coordinators to plan school events, parent fundraisers and social events, and coordinate with support room parents.
Click here: 2022-23 Parent - Student Handbook UPDATED AUGUST, 2022
There are NEW updates to the handbook since the printing of the copy that parents received this week. Updates are to the Health & Illness policy (pg. 9-12) and Volunteer Policy (pg. 38) To review, click on link above. School administration reserves the right to update / change school policies at anytime. Parents will be notified through this newsletter posting.
COVID is again popping up on campus.
COVID is here with us, and though case management at school has evolved, there is still protocol to follow. We follow CDPH or local health department health orders and guidance for K-12 schools. Whichever is most restrictive, we are obligated to follow.
School Policy for exposure and testing positive for COVID.
Student exposed at home: If anyone at home tests positive for COVID, please notify the office. This does not mean exposed students need to stay home, but there is protocol that must be followed.
Students exposed to positive case at school: Only the affected class parents will be notified via text message of a potential exposure. Recommendation is to test on day 3 AND day 5 after exposure and monitor for symptoms. Students continue coming to school, if symptom free. The school only expects to be notified of a positive test result.
COVID positive, student or staff: Anyone who tests positive must isolate for 5 days. On day 5, if COVID test is negative and symptoms resolved, they may return to school, but must wear a mask indoors around others for full 10 days. This is not an option.
Student/staff may not return to school within10 days of testing positive until they can achieve a negative test result.

IN ALL CASES, Please notify the office if a student or anyone in your household tests positive to receive clear guidance.
PLEASE REVIEW THE UPDATED HEALTH & ILLNESS POLICY IN
THE PARENT-STUDENT HANDBOOK.
FAMILY NAME PLACARDS
Correction - returning families did not receive a name placard this week. It is assumed that families keep their placard so we avoid the waste of making duplicates if not necessary. If you need additional placards, please email our clerical assistant, Ms. Carol ASAP at : c_barnaby@sonic.net
PLEASE USE YOUR PLACARD AT EVERY DISMISSAL.
CAMPUS SECURITY
A reminder, as mentioned in the first principal letter this year, the front doors of the school will remain locked at all times during the school day. There is now a glowing door bell on the door frame. Please be sure and inform your students, if they arrive to school late, they are to ring the door bell and patiently wait until office staff can buzz them in. Once they hear the lock click, they can pull open the door.
OFFICE CART is now left out daily for parents to drop off. If you have office business or an appointment, please ring the bell and wait for assistance.
YMCA PICK UP For the safety of all students who remain on campus in childcare and afterschool sports, the gate is closed at 3pm after students dismiss from class. Parents who have students at the Y are to call the Y phone number that is posted on the board outside of the gate. Y personnel will bring your child out to you to sign them out.
If your child only attends the Y on occasion, it is up to the parent to notify the school office BEFORE NOON please, if they are NOT to attend on any particular day. We can not manage every student's different attendance schedules at the Y. If a student is registered, they should know to go, or the office should be notified if they will be picked up by 3:20pm.
DID YOU KNOW?
Dogs are not allowed anywhere on the St. Rose or Cardinal Newman campus.
If your pet is with you at drop off or dismissal, PLEASE keep them IN your car.

Thank you
DISMISSAL THANK YOU!
95% of our families did what we asked and didn't arrive on campus until 2:45-ish! Again, allowing CN dismissal to flow without SR cars jamming the parking lot too early. It really does make a big difference. The BEST time to arrive is not before 2:45pm for K-4th grade and not before 3PM for 5th-8th grade. If you have multiple children, arrive at your oldest child's dismissal time.

St. Rose Parents are to remain in the RIGHT HAND LANE and meander up through the traffic circle and should be courteous to drivers who are trying to exit parking spaces. Please, do not pass others, do not cut in front of others. If picking up by 3:20 becomes an issue for parents, we will ask that you register for after school child care.
SEE PARENT-STUDENT HANDBOOK FOR TRAFFIC MAP AND MORE INFORMATION ON PICK-UP/DISMISSAL AND TRAFFIC ON CAMPUS.
