Other Words for Home by Jasmine Warga
Young Jude never imagined that she’d be leaving her home behind, along with her beloved father and brother. But when dangers arise in her hometown, Jude and her mother are sent to Cincinnati, to live with relatives. To Jude, America is strange, and loud, and her new school is nothing like the American movies she’s watched. Plus, Jude now has to grapple with her new designation as “Middle Eastern,” something she’s never known before. But this country also harbors many surprises. There’s new family, new friends and a school musical that maybe, just maybe, Jude might try out for. Perhaps America can really be Jude’s new home, a place where she can truly be herself.
