Other Words for Home by Jasmine Warga

Young Jude never imagined that she’d be leaving her home behind, along with her beloved father and brother. But when dangers arise in her hometown, Jude and her mother are sent to Cincinnati, to live with relatives. To Jude, America is strange, and loud, and her new school is nothing like the American movies she’s watched. Plus, Jude now has to grapple with her new designation as “Middle Eastern,” something she’s never known before. But this country also harbors many surprises. There’s new family, new friends and a school musical that maybe, just maybe, Jude might try out for. Perhaps America can really be Jude’s new home, a place where she can truly be herself.
Hidden Figures by Margot Lee Shetterly

Hidden Figures tells the story of four brilliant female African-American mathematicians who greatly contributed to some of NASA’s greatest achievements. Using their incredible mathematical skills, these four women calculated the numbers that helped send rockets and astronauts into space, and how their work forever transformed NASA and the United States.
Friends of WHMS updates
On Saturday, February 26, a group of 16 parents and children gathered in the WHMS kitchen to prepare and deliver four lasagnas, salads, and cookies. They were matched with families through Lasagna Love, an online platform that links families requesting a meal with volunteers. We thank the volunteers who brought ingredients and the families that cooked and delivered the food.
