President’s Points of Pride
The Photobiomodulation (PBM) Facility—under the directorship of Dr. Jennifer Flora and located at the Suzanne Shipley Wellness Center on campus—has been providing therapeutic wellness applications to many individuals since its launch in March. PBM Therapy uses red light and near-infrared light to improve tissue repair and reduce pain and inflammation. For more uses and known benefits, please visit the PBM Foundation website. This facility is part of the Shepherd University Center of Excellence for Photobiomodulation, under the interim directorship of Dr. Praveen Arany, and was made possible through a grant from the Governor’s office. To date, more than 200 people have received therapy at the Shepherd PBM Facility to alleviate pain and stiffness, accelerate the healing process in injured tissues, and diminish fatigue associated with long COVID symptoms. We are most fortunate to have this opportunity to help members of our campus and community. More information about PBM therapy at Shepherd is available online.
