STEM CAMP
Marshmallow Towers!
Don't Drop The Egg!
The first three STEM CAMP programs this summer have been a blast! Each week we make predictions, draw a blueprint, use our imaginations to build, test out the creations and then review what went well and what we would change. Visit www.dmyfs.org/stemcamp to register for upcoming programs, space is limited!

A big thank you to Coginchaug Valley Education Foundation for the grant funding to make this possible.
Will It Float!

Introducing, Ellie!
We are excited to introduce Ellie Castiglia DMYFS & DMLWC summer intern for 2022! "Hello! My name is Ellie Castiglia and I will be attending the University of Connecticut this upcoming fall as a biology major with a human rights minor. I have been involved with DMYFS & DMLWC for many years, volunteering at the DMYFS Apple Crisp Booth and participating in EDGE throughout high school. In my free time, I love participating in theatre and I have been on a dance team for 13 years. I also enjoy being able to give back to the community and I have helped to provide free math tutoring to younger students throughout the past few summers. I am so grateful for the incredible work that DMYFS & DMLWC does for our community and I am so excited to continue working with DMYFS & DMLWC this summer!"

National Suicide Prevention Lifeline - 988
The United States transitioned the 10-digit National Suicide Prevention Lifeline to 988 – an easy-to-remember three-digit number for 24/7 crisis care. The lifeline, which also links to the Veterans Crisis Line, follows a three-year joint effort by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Federal Communications Commission (FCC), and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to put crisis care more in reach for people in need.
In 2021, the Lifeline received 3.6 million calls, chats, and texts. That number is expected to at least double within the first full year after the 988 transition. Studies have shown that after speaking with a trained crisis counselor, most Lifeline callers are significantly more likely to feel less depressed, less suicidal, less overwhelmed, and more hopeful.
The 10-digit Lifeline number 1-800-273-TALK (8255) will continue to be operational and will route calls to 988 indefinitely. Veterans, service members, and their families can also still reach the Veterans Crisis Line with the current phone number 1-800-273-8255 and Press 1, or by chat or text to 838255. To learn more visit https://988lifeline.org/.
You should call 988 when anyone:
·   Talking about or is at risk of suicide
·   Threatens or is at risk for violence
·   Has been victimized/traumatized
·   Is in harms way without immediate assistance
·   Is behaviorally “acting out” or out of control
