Spiritual Practices in Fellowship Hall

Each Sunday during Lent, Sunday school classes are invited to sign up for one Sunday to join Rev. Leigh Bonner in Fellowship Hall for a time of guided spiritual practices (lectio divina, visio divina, and labyrinth-walking). This Sunday, March 19, the Builders Class will attend. On March 26, we do not have a specific class signed up, but Leigh will be ready for anyone who wishes to attend that day. Whether you are part of a class or not, you are welcome to join any class for this opportunity, even if you have already attended. Each week will have a different set of scripture, art, and prayers to explore together.

Alternatively, you are welcome for a self-guided spiritual practices in Fellowship Hall during lent, Mondays through Thursdays between 1:00-3:30 p.m.

FPC is seeking an Associate Pastor

First Presbyterian Church of Athens, Georgia is seeking an Associate Pastor to join our spiritual leadership team. Steeped in more than 200 years of history and tradition, we are a downtown church of almost 1,000 members in a vibrant university city. We are a diverse community of worshippers from a wide geographic area with many talents, ideas, hopes, and goals.

Our Associate Pastor should be a dynamic leader and team player who collaborates with our dedicated staff and will serve as a spiritual shepherd and connector for our members.

Books for Keeps Book Drive, Through May 28

Since 2009, Books for Keeps has given more than one million books to children from low-income families in grades Pre-K through 12. FPC has become a large supporter of Books for Keeps with our annual book drive.

You can help make sure no child in our community goes a summer without great books to read. Please bring your used books to the bins in the Atrium or church office. Books for Keeps can accept books of all kinds except textbooks and encyclopedias. Any books that are not right for their program go to the annual BFK Book Sale, with proceeds used to buy new children’s books. To learn more about the organization, go to booksforkeeps.org. Thank you!

We are running low on supplies at our static site and day center! With the start of school, we have seen an increase in families asking for household supplies because they have had additional expenses this past month. Some of the items that we need include:

  • Rolling clothing racks
  • Clothing hangers
  • Plastic storage boxes with lids

You can shop on our Amazon wishlist here, or drop items off at our Day Center (First Baptist: 355 Pulaski Street) or our Static Site (Milledge Avenue Baptist Church: 1690 S Milledge Ave).
