Trinity Annual Blood Drive

This Friday, April 12, 1-4pm

Because of You, Life Doesn’t Stop

Every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood. This could be a little girl in the ICU or a mother with Stage 3 leukemia. If you’re worried about needles, don’t be—most blood donors compare the experience to a mild, split-second pinch! The entire process is very safe and very fast, and you will feel amazing knowing you potentially saved up to three people. https://www.vitalant.org/

Jeffrey Krutzsch, JOC Co Chair manages this drive at Trinity every year. Vitalant is the blood bank for SB County & will join us at Trinity. Questions: jskrutzsch@gmail.com

Trinity Responds to a Transitional Housing Appeal

After an announcement made by Ralph and Jeffrey on Sunday March 10 there were 14 interested Trinity parishioners who came forward with a desire to help

Good Samaritan Services, or Dignity Moves, with an Adopt a Room campaign to provide Transitional Housing for people without homes. Also, the JOC council voted to allocate $900 to fund three rooms to support the transitional housing project of Dignity Moves.

Current Tri-County Immigration Issues ·

  ILDC and 805 Undocufund

  • Many of ILDC’s clients are minors, crossing the border on their own. <ild.org>
  • ILDC recently hired a new Spanish speaking Social Worker to serve minors and families.

Justice and Outreach Council’s Climate Environment Action Circle

Earth Day 2024 is on April 27 & 28!

Again, this year, Trinity’s Justice and Outreach Parish Council (JOC) is proud to be a sponsor of the Santa Barbara Earth Day Festival, presented by the Community Environmental Council (CEC) and Carp Events. This two-day celebration will be held at Alameda Park on April 27 and 28.

Now in its 54th year, the Santa Barbara Earth Day Festival is one of the longest-running Earth

Day celebrations in the country and is one of the largest Earth Day festivals on the West Coast.

In 2024, the festival is aligning with the Earth Day Network’s theme of Planet vs Plastics. This

theme calls to advocate for widespread awareness on the health risks of plastics, rapidly phasing

out single use plastics and pushing for a strong UN Treaty on Plastic Pollution by the end of

2024. Information about the festival can be found at https://www.sbearthday.org/.

Will you join us? Our Action Circle welcomes new members, and all interested parishioners are encouraged to join us at our next gathering!

Please contact Bill Leahy (whleahy2@gmail.com) or Jean Davis (jeanlangedavis@gmail.com) if questions or want more information.

News from the Area Agency on Aging

Become a Senior Legislator

From Santa Barbara & San Luis Obispo Counties:

If you are passionate about issues facing older Californians and their families, you may want to consider running for the California Senior Legislature! The California Senior Legislature is a volunteer body whose primary mission is to gather ideas for legislation at the state and federal levels, craft the ideas into formal proposals, prioritize the proposals, present them to members of the Legislature or the Congress, and advocate for laws implementing the ideas.

Any person who is fifty-five (55) years of age or over, is a registered voter and resides in the county for which the election is held. Forms can be obtained directly from CSL at www.4csl.org/forms. For additional information and/or help in obtaining forms, contact the Central Coast Commission for Senior Citizens, Area Agency on Aging office at 1-800-510-2020 or via email seniors@centralcoastseniors.org.

Celebrate and Support Justice

Celebrate loved ones by using the envelopes in the pews to recognize a special family member or event.

Turn your memories into a donation to the Justice and Outreach Council. We will use these funds to provide comfort and safety to those in need—food, education for children, assistance to immigrants—any of our neighbors needing support. . . so they can celebrate. Together, these gifts make possible our community of welcome, reconciliation, and service.

There are two ways you can continue to celebrate and support our justice work in addition to your pledges both now and in the future. Send in a check made out to Trinity and simply note “Justice” in the memo line and provide the names of the persons or occasion you want to celebrate. Or donate via Trinity’s PayPal account, select "Justice Fund" and under “special instructions” provide the names of the persons or occasion you want to celebrate.

Thank you to our celebration donors for March!

Jeannie Christensen, Kylen Christiansen, Jean & David Davis, Sarah Fenstermaker, Carol Ann Manzi, and Siu & Don Zimmerman

Land Acknowledgement

We honor and acknowledge the Chumash people, the traditional custodians of this land, and pay our respects to the Chumash elders, past, present, and future, who call this land on which we sit their home. We appreciate their wisdom, their culture, and their presence among us today as the host people of this land. We lament the injustices done to the original inhabitants and the injustices done to this land in the centuries since. We seek the courage and wisdom to heal the wounds of the past and build a better future together, in deep solidarity.
