Thanks for being here! This cold weather did not stop us from creating some key highlights this past month! We are thankful for all the stories that are unfolding here at Millwood Impact and even more grateful that we can share it with YOU!

It was a fun month at STAR Club! We cooked, sewed and made some beautiful art and memories! Our mission at STAR Club is to create a safe and secure space for students to grow and cultivate connection. The beauty behind this mission is that it can be lived out in various ways.

As students participate in activities such as cooking or an art activity with a mentor, they have the opportunity to be known, seen and heard by their mentor. Sometimes it can seem like a student’s behavior is purposely disruptive some days, but as mentors get to know the students, they can recognize those behaviors as a bid for connection and take the time to connect  with them. We live out our mission in a number of ways and we are excited about how our team will lean into our mission this month. We are continuously impressed by how this community continues to show up, and happy that our monthly Millwood Meal is providing space for fun conversations! Hutton Settlement, our Millwood Meal partner, provided another delicious meal this past month, filled with yummy spices and flavor! Tables were filled with families and friends gathered to enjoy a delicious free meal and join in conversation. No meal is complete without dessert, thank you

Spokane Valley Kiwanis for sponsoring this past month and being the incredible team to help set-up and clean-up for this event!

We love supporting local businesses and collaborating with our community. Crystal, the owner of The Plant Project, arranged a fun educational experience for STAR Club students to learn and get their hands dirty! It’s projects like these that help spark curiosity and make learning fun!

Learning a new skill can be hard, making it the perfect space to cultivate connection! It’s a space where you can learn about yourself and the people around you. 10 amazing STAR Club students had the opportunity to experience just that, cultivating connections while trying and building a new skill!

Thank you to Mt. Spokane, Millwood Brewery, and the Rotary Club for making this experience possible!
