We have a big announcement to share with you!

Please join us in welcoming the new Executive Director of North Side, Dr. Douglas Thaman!

Doug shares our mission, has extensive experience in education, and has made the Missouri Charter Public School Association a powerful force supporting North Side and improving education in St. Louis and the state.

I am pleased to pass the torch along as I retire in June, after 12 wonderful years of working with teachers, students and families.

About Dr. Douglas Thaman
Douglas Thaman has served for 11 years as the Executive Director of the Missouri Charter Public School Association.

Prior to becoming the organization’s third Executive Director, Dr. Thaman served as the Director of Professional Services for the National Association of Charter School Authorizers (NACSA). In this role Dr. Thaman provided guidance and assistance to authorizers as they worked to achieve a level of high quality and high impact providing oversight to charter schools. Dr. Thaman also managed the State of Louisiana’s charter school application evaluation and selection process as well as other large-­‐scale authorizer projects for NACSA.  
Prior to joining NACSA, Dr. Thaman served as the Vice President of Operations for the Midwest Region of Lighthouse Academies where he supervised the opening of charter schools in Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio. He received his Doctor of Education from St. Louis University. The focus of his doctoral dissertation was on the relationship between parent involvement and student achievement.  

In addition Dr. Thaman holds a B.S. in Elementary Education from Southwest Missouri State University, a Masters in School Administration from the University of Missouri, St. Louis, as well as a Specialist in School Administration from St. Louis University.  

Based in St. Louis, Dr. Thaman has served as a teacher and administrator, an adjunct professor, educational consultant and was the founding executive director of St. Louis Charter School located in South St. Louis City.
