Port Malabar Elementary Academic Achiever Ceremony

Yesterday morning, Port Malabar Elementary held its Academic Achiever Ceremony for the 4th-6th grades. The ceremony was divided into three sections, with the 3rd and 4th graders first. Then followed by 6th-grade students, and finally 5th grade. Watching the students proudly cross the stage to receive their awards was wonderful while their families and peers cheered. Even the Port Malabar cheerleaders brought an uplifting spirit as they performed a cheer called “Success.”

During the ceremony, students were recognized for their achievements. Awards included improved GPA, A/B Honor Role, most respectful, most prepared, most dependable, and Straight A Honor Role. Congratulations to the students at Port Malabar Elementary for their academic achievements!

SCHOOL BOARD SCOOP

School Board Scoop

This week the School Board met during a Work Session and a Board Meeting and accomplished several goals designed to have a positive impact on BPS students and staff. The Board and Interim Superintendent, Dr. Robert Schiller, held a lengthy discussion on updates to the district’s Discipline Plan. That discussion included the forming of a Discipline Steering Committee, which will make discipline plan recommendations to the Board. That committee has already held its first meeting with recommendations scheduled to be unveiled at the February 7th Board Work Session.

Also, this week, the Board approved an interim reorganization of senior leadership. Dr. Anna-Marie Cote has joined BPS as Interim Deputy Superintendent with a focus on academics. Dr. Cote retired from Seminole County School District, where she had a distinguished career. Dr. Karyle Green, Director of Labor Relations for BPS, has been named Interim Chief Human Resources Officer. Dr. Green will perform both roles moving forward. Dr. Tracy Webley joins BPS as head of Student Services. Dr. Webley has spent her career in education and has worked for the state as well as for Orange County Schools and Pinellas County Schools.

Create a great offer by adding words like "free" "personalized" "complimentary" or "customized." A sense of urgency often helps readers take an action, so think about inserting phrases like "for a limited time only" or "only 7 remaining"!
