Update on Current COVID Protocols
Return to Common Cup
- Return to the Common Cup - Beginning on Maundy Thursday, 14 April, we will return to offering wine and grape juice using the Common Cup. There will be no intinction (dipping into the cup). Please remember that if you wish not to receive wine, receiving Bread only imparts the full benefit of the Sacrament.
-
Masks are now optional for Church services with the strong recommendation for people to continue to wear masks based on preference, informed by personal level of risk and if they are unvaccinated.
- If you are visiting the Education Wing Monday through Friday during Trinity Academy school hours, we ask that you wear a mask. Trinity Academy will continue universal masking until the end of the school year in June.
- We will continue to wear masks in the office in all common areas, and those who have private offices may request visitors to wear masks. Please be respectful of staff wishes.
As a reminder, there are various levels of comfort in our community with masking, handshakes, and hugging, so please be respectful of others whose decisions differ from your own.
Thank you for your continued cooperation and flexibility. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to Rev. D. or a member of the Vestry.

Special Prayer Request
A member of our parish, Jacqui Lucier has advanced kidney disease and is in need of a transplant.
As we pray for Jacqui, we also ask that you prayerfully consider being screened as a potential kidney donor. For more information about living organ donation and to sign up to be screened, please visit nkr.org/SBB483. Please encourage your friends and family to consider donor screening.
To hear Jacqui talk about her illness and need for a transplant, watch this clip that has aired on local news.

Recording of April 3 ACF Forum
now available for viewing
The April 3 Zoom forum about organ transplants was recorded and is now available for you to view, following this link: Trinityhartford.org/acforgandonation. The forum was informative, and included personal stories from organ donors and transplant recipients. A speaker from New England Donate Life, himself the recipient of a heart transplant, provided facts that dispelled some common myths about organ transplants. The forum explained the matching and transplant process in some detail.
In a quick moment, the topic of organ transplants has gone from an abstract idea to a deeply personal one for us at Trinity, as we have been asked to pray for our beloved Jacqui Lucier, who needs a kidney. We have also been asked to consider being screened as a potential donor. If you weren’t able to attend the forum, please take some time to watch the zoom recording.

Wednesdays in Lent - 13 April
During the season of Lent, you are invited to join us on Wednesday night at 7:00 pm on zoom as we study Howard Thurman’s landmark work, Jesus and the Disinherited.
The central question that Thurman wrestles with is, “What does the religion of Jesus offer to those with their backs against the wall?” While this book was published in 1949, Thurman’s thoughts remain relevant today as we continue to seek to faithfully follow Jesus and share his Good News in a world that desperately needs it.
As you read Chapter 5 and the epilogue, you are invited to reflect on the following questions:
- What spoke to your heart? How did you feel while you’re reading the chapter.
- Did you find yourself struggling with or wanting to push back against any of what you read? If so, what do you think caused that reaction?

Lenten Giving Opportunity
To Benefit College Students
Donations in by 14 April
It’s not too late to participate in this Lenten Giving Opportunity!
At the Maundy Thursday service, Rev. D. will bless the personal care items collected during Lent which will benefit the Capital Community College (CCC) Food Pantry.
While many college students are beneficiaries of SNAP Vouchers (formerly called Food Stamps), the vouchers do not allow for the purchase of personal care hygiene products.
The Director of the CCC Food Pantry has identified the following as the most needed products:
Soap; Conditioner; Shampoo; Feminine care items; Deodorant
Members of Trinity may participate in three ways:
-
At Trinity..."BY THURSDAY, APRIL 14". . : place your purchased items in the large basket in the Baptistery. The items will be taken to the Cathedral;
-
Online: purchase items and have them sent to:
Christ Church Cathedral
(Attn: Deacon Bonnie Matthews)
45 Church Street, Hartford, CT 06103
-
At the Cathedral: purchased items may be delivered in-person to the Cathedral
Wednesday 4/20 to Friday 4/22, from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Sunday 4/24 from 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Items collected at Trinity will be transported to the Cathedral by Faith in Action/Outreach volunteers.
Thank you!

- We'll distribute our lunches and personal care items following the service, and finish around 3:00.
All parishioners and families are welcome. Volunteers will observe the mask and social distancing protocols in effect at the time for in-person worship.

Needed for our Afghan family: Bicycles
Ferooz has now begun a full-time day job, so he will need to attend another venue to take ESOL lessons in place of those at Hartford Public Library he took during the day. The new venue is about a mile from the family home, and he would like a bicycle so that he can get there and back as quickly as possible. The resettlement team is looking for a 26" used bicycle in good condition.
Also, if anyone has access to used tricycles, those would be great for the 3- and 4-y/o boys. The 6-y/o boy and 8-y/o girl also need kids' bicycles; training wheels should not be needed, as both are athletic and will, we think, quickly learn to ride.
If you have any of these items to donate to the Dadwall family, please contact me.
Anne Rapkin, for the Outreach Committee;
