A MESSAGE FROM SR. PRINCIPAL, MR. TOLZDA | |
Dear St. Serra Parents,
Last Sunday, our Tenth Annual Seasons Tuition Assistance Luncheon was held in our Student Activity Center. Many members of our school community, both parents and staff, came together to make this event happen for a great cause. Tuition Assistance is a vital program for our school community, as it assists our families in need in providing their children with a Catholic education.
When families inquire about Tuition Assistance, it is typically because they are experiencing an unexpected hardship and/or life-changing circumstance which affects their personal financial situation. Parents seeking tuition assistance must complete the application process through FACTS, which requires them to submit their most recent W2 and tax information. FACTS verifies all of the information submitted on these applications, determines if and how much financial assistance may be needed, and makes a recommendation. The typical amount of assistance awarded ranges between 10-30% per child, but can be more in extreme circumstances.
St. Serra’s Tuition Assistance Committee, which includes representation from our school and our pastors, meets to review the FACTS recommendations. All personal identifying information such as names, addresses, and phone numbers, are removed to ensure a fair and equitable process. Awards are granted based on available funds raised at our annual Seasons Luncheon and Anchor Ball events. Our generous donors and supporters of Tuition Assistance, which includes many St. Serra families, can be the difference between whether a child stays at St. Serra or goes to another school. For this and for our entire St. Serra school community, we sincerely thank all those who have helped assist our families in need.
"...Jesus said, 'Let the children come to me, and do not prevent them;
for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.'"
- Matthew 19:14
Always striving,
Tim Tolzda
Sr. Principal
