SCHOOL NEWS

Dear Parents,

Starting this Sunday, the nation and our school will celebrate Catholic Schools Week! Included below is a list of activities here at school. I want to thank each and everyone one of you for choosing a Catholic education for your child and more specifically choosing our amazing community at Curé of Ars. As we celebrate our schools, I want to thank all of our parents for the support, love, and dedication they give to our community. A special shout out to our three Soiree Chairs, Katie Bohnen, Anne Gegan, and Janelle Campbell as they are working around the clock to make a wonderful and memorable evening that wholly supports Catholic Education here at home. I want to thank our School Advisory board for their dedication and time as they share their knowledge and perspective with our team. You can find out more information about them on our website or the link here.  Thank you to our PTO, headed by Sarah Hanna and Molly Costello. Their leadership along with the many parents who volunteer are invaluable to achieving all that we do for our students. To every parent who volunteers at school as there are too many to list. Thank you to those parishioners and families who continue to share the good news of our community and keep us in their prayers. We could not provide quality education without our amazing staff. From our fearless leader, Father Storey, to every single employee who teaches and lives our mission every day. And most importantly, we are grateful for our children. May they become the next generation to love one another, lead the world to peace, and care for the dignity of every person. In the words of our Patron Saint, St. John Vianney

My little children, your hearts, are small, but prayer stretches them and makes them capable of loving God. Through prayer we receive a foretaste of heaven and something of paradise comes down upon us. Prayer never leaves us without sweetness. It is honey that flows into the souls and makes all things sweet. When we pray properly, sorrows disappear like snow before the sun.

Winter Testing Grades 3-8

Starting next week, students in grades 3- 8 will be taking Kansas Assessment Interims or MAPs as their winter benchmarks. The data from these tests help us understand which skills and standards our students have mastered and which ones teachers need to address before our spring assessments. We ask that you please make sure students have a good breakfast the morning of their test and a good night's rest the night before. 3rd and 6th grade test on the next two Tuesdays. 4th and 5th test on Thursday next week and Wednesday the week following. 7th and 8th grade test on Wednesday next week and Thursday the week following. Thank you for your continued support!
