Malik Lee Braun 2017 Sammy Award Recipient
During the Jamiat Khas Leaders Retreat held in November near Petaluma, California, Sheikh Malik Lee Braun, of Belvedere, California was awarded the 2017 Sammy Award by Pir Shabda Kahn.

On behalf of the Ruhaniat Board of Trustees, the Murshids' Circle and the Ruhaniat Community, we honor and celebrate Malik, and offer our congratulations and heartfelt thanks for his extraordinary service.
FROM PIR SHABDA KAHN:
It is with great pleasure and deep gratitude that we recognize Malik Lee Braun's extraordinary service to all sentient beings, and especially to the Ruhaniat stream with this year's Sammy Award.

Malik and I have been friends since the mid 1970's.

The Murshid Sam Dargah Project began in 2007. By around 2010-11 the project began to really take shape. Without me even knowing having a Project Manager was MORE than essential, Malik came to me and offered his services as the Project Manager, not asking for any salary, only that his expenses be covered.

Malik has so much history that made him the perfect person for this very complex function: a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from San Francisco State University; living off the grid in the wilderness creating roads; living at Allah's Acres in rural Hopland, California; becoming a building contractor and doing years of work in construction; work as a building inspection official in the City of Belvedere, California. All this, along with raising three sons, instilled Malik with many skills, and each one of them has been utilized over the seven-year period that we have been working on Dargah together.

With all the complexities of creating Murshid Sam's Dargah, from architectural, to structural, to artistic to, political, to employee hiring and management, to accounting, Malik has been and is the most steady friend - gentle, wise, and a hard working partner. We talk almost every day, planning each step out.

He is loved and greatly admired by all the amazing craftspeople, who are working to make the Dargah a reality, with several of them carving gifts of gratitude for him.

I offer my deepest gratitude to you, Malik, for your kindness, compassion, strength, wisdom, dedication to the Message, your friendship and for your service to the Ruhaniat!

FROM MURSHIDA LEILAH BE:
A deep bow to you, beloved Malik. What a crowing jewel in your life and the life of our Pir...the visioning, over-seeing, and manifestation of an exquisite love-made shrine for Murshid Sam. From the deep, deep heart of love flows infinite gratitude for you and to you.

FROM KABIR MCKINNON, DARGAH COMMITTEE CHAIR
A great blessing for me from my role with the Murshid SAM Dargah Project Committee has been the opportunity to work closely with Malik Braun. While his work as Project Manager may appear to be concerned with all things technical and mechanical -- and indeed, that is a big part of it -- I have had the privilege to witness and learn from Malik's deep attunement with the unseen. His prayerful approach has consistently brought forth guidance that has made seemingly impossible achievements possible. From his refinement and kindness have grown many deep connections with those who worked on the project. I celebrate and wholeheartedly endorse the recognition of his service.
