Yorkville Jt. #2 School District Business Manager

Jeff Genovese

Recognized With State Award

I am so pleased to announce that our very own Director of Business Services, Mr. Jeff Genovese, has been nominated and selected as the final recipient for the 2024 George Gray WASBO New School Business Manager of the Year Award.

He will be officially and formally recognized in January 2024 at the State Education Convention.

It doesn't matter if you work for a fortune 500 company, a small family owned business, are a member of a church or non-profit organization, or in our case a school. In any situation, you want to be assured that your dollars are being used wisely, ethically, and responsibly. That is precisely what this award strives to recognize.

Mr. Genovese has successfully defeased debt payments on our (2007) wing to save dollars for taxpayers, and allow us to pay off the debt three years earlier than anticipated. He has brought a negative food service budget to a balanced and secure budget. His decision making and attention to deadlines for state and federal guidelines, as well as abiding by the rules of all audits, have been met favorably.

The DPI, local banks, food service consortium of schools (run by Jeff), and many other organizations recognize Jeff Genovese as a “go to” person when it comes to the affairs of school budget, school finance, the Wisconsin school finance model, human resources, and more. He is a class act and trusted.

The WASBO George Gray Award award acknowledges the value and need to recognize new (1-3 years of experience) outstanding school business managers in Wisconsin, and their contributions to public education. The purpose of the George Gray WASBO New School Business Manager of the Year award is to recognize the contributions of new business managers to their local school district and community, as well as to the business manager profession, regardless of the size of their district.

This award was renamed in honor of George Gray, who was responsible for creating the School of Business Management Master of Science Degree Program at UW-Whitewater.

George is known for saying: “Business Managers are driving (the district) from the back seat.”

This is really great not only for Jeff, but for our Yorkville School District. It is important for our District and the public to know we have an ethical and responsible person leading the financial aspect of our school district.

Please take some time to congratulate Jeff. His email address is jeff.genovese@yorkville.k12.wi.us
