Const. Morgan Russell (class of 1988)
The late South Simcoe Police Const. Morgan is being honoured in a way that will ensure his name is remembered in Innisfil for years to come. The town is renaming the South Innisfil Arena & Community Centre in Lefroy after him. Read more
Avery Konda (class of 2017 and 2018)
Whether it's helping out at a soup kitchen or an event, Avery says he finds deep happiness in giving his time to the service of others. Read more

Erica Vanclief (class of 1997)
Easter Seals Ontario is getting ready to host its 12th annual Dancing with Easter Seals Stars – 'A Night at the Movies' event and will honour a long-serving Barrie woman who was tragically killed late last year. Read more
Ken Potter (class of 1982)
Ken has devoted his life to marine safety. He’s a board member with the Transportation Safety Board, and before becoming a board member, he spent more than 15 years with the TSB as an investigator. Read more
Lana Dunlop (Van Zant) (class of 1987)
Lana was raised in the small northern Ontario community of Little Current on Manitoulin Island on Lake Huron. “Growing up, I remember helping my parents,” recalled Dunlop, manager of patient flow and access for the Brant Community Healthcare System. Read more

Congrats to the 2022 @ABSC_Georgian alumni recognition award winner, Grant Patterson (class of 2007), ABSC alumni. Read more
Leah Dyck (class of 2011)
A Barrie-based charity just got a boost to its coffers thanks to a donation from 100 Women Who Care South Simcoe. Fresh Food Weekly, founded by Leah in June 2022, provides a free monthly meal box delivery program to low-income families residing in the Barrie and Innisfil. Read more
Capt. Seann O’Donoughue (class of 1997)
The 30 th annual Mariners’ Service and Blessing of the Great Lakes Fleet recently took place, presented by the International Shipmaster’s Association. The event was organized by Capt. Seann O’Donoughue, president of the Georgian Bay-Huronia chapter of the association. Read more

Kara recently opened her own independent dental hygiene clinic in Lindsay, Evolve Dental Hygiene. Read more
Jama Maxie (class of 2020)
A proud member of the White Bear First Nation in Saskatchewan, and Social Service Worker grad from Georgian, Jama has joined the Native Child and Family Services of Toronto Board of Directors. He was one of the first recipients of the Indigenous Sprit Award in 2021. Read more

Georgian alumni, students, staff and their friends and families came out for to cheer on the Barrie Colts Feb. 25
Just one of many benefits available to you, we recently hosted Georgian night at the Barrie Colts game. Thank you to the over 150 alumni and friends who came out to root for the home team as the Colts won 6-3 over the Oshawa Generals.

Georgian College Pow Wow
Georgian College’s in-person Pow Wow returns Sat., March 11 for the first time in four years.
Students, alumni and the public are invited to the college’s 15th Traditional Pow Wow to celebrate and learn about Indigenous culture, songs and dance. The theme this year is Honouring the Cycle of Life.

Interested in seeing your artwork displayed in a gallery?
Georgian alumni are invited to submit artwork that may be showcased at Barrie, Orillia and Owen Sound Campuses that reflect welcoming spaces for individuals accessing Student and Learning Services who provide support for mental health, well-being and accessibility.
All submissions are required by March 14.

Research, Innovation, Scholarship and Entrepreneurship (RISE) Series is a place where you can be innovative, creative and share your changemaking ideas with the Georgian College community and beyond.
