Kids In Care (KIC - pronounced “kick”) is a monthly ministry started in 2017 by Tree of Life Lutheran Church members who are involved with children and families in the foster care system. Initially, the idea was for foster parents to drop off their foster children to have some respite time for themselves. But the foster parents found more value in staying and networking, supporting and maybe doing a little venting with one another.
While at KIC the children are treated to games, arts and crafts, and, of course, FOOD! Some KIC events happen at a local park or bowling alley, but most are held at the church.
Last Christmas, the congregation provided gifts to over 40 KIC children. This year there was an Easter egg hunt for eggs filled with candy, toys, a note to get a stuffed animal, and money.
Recently, one of the foster moms who is in the process of adopting her foster child, approached Rev. Eric Linthicum about baptizing the child once the adoption process is complete. To God be the glory!
