In Our Churches

Epiphany, Dorr, MI

Epiphany Lutheran Church held its first ever West Michigan English District Easter Vigil. Rev. Zachary Marklevitz (Grace, Wyoming) and Rev. Christopher Nuttelman (Hope, Grand Rapids and Christ, West Olive) assisted Rev. Ryan Beffrey in the service. What a blessing it was to worship with all four congregations.

Pictured below is Pastor Beffrey on Easter morning with the ladies of Epiphany that participated with hats. One of them was hand made over 60 years ago!

Trinity, Erie, PA

Madison, daughter of Kadie and Anthony, was baptized by Rev. Travis Schmidt at Trinity Lutheran Church. Relatives came from as far as Michigan to celebrate the sacrament of Holy Baptism with the congregation.

The Erie Spoon Carving Club held two advanced spoon carving classes for the community at Trinity Lutheran Church. The instructor Ken Brownes showed new, intricate designs on spoon handles. Plans for more classes on knife and chisel sharpening will be held in the future.

West Portal, San Francisco, CA

Easter Sunday celebration at West Portal Lutheran Church!

Tree of Life, Inverness, FL

Kids In Care (KIC - pronounced “kick”) is a monthly ministry started in 2017 by Tree of Life Lutheran Church members who are involved with children and families in the foster care system. Initially, the idea was for foster parents to drop off their foster children to have some respite time for themselves. But the foster parents found more value in staying and networking, supporting and maybe doing a little venting with one another.

While at KIC the children are treated to games, arts and crafts, and, of course, FOOD! Some KIC events happen at a local park or bowling alley, but most are held at the church.

Last Christmas, the congregation provided gifts to over 40 KIC children. This year there was an Easter egg hunt for eggs filled with candy, toys, a note to get a stuffed animal, and money.

Recently, one of the foster moms who is in the process of adopting her foster child, approached Rev. Eric Linthicum about baptizing the child once the adoption process is complete. To God be the glory!

Holy Cross, Pittsburgh, PA

Holy Cross Evangelical-Lutheran Chapel had a wonderful celebration of the Resurrection of our Lord! They enjoyed the Holy Word and Sacraments of our Lord Jesus Christ and, as is their tradition, sang the recessional hymn, "Christ the Lord is Risen Today" on the front steps for the community to hear. To Him alone be the glory. Christ is Risen! HE IS RISEN INDEED, ALLELUIA!
