Reminder about Mask Options

This is a friendly reminder that beginning Monday, March 14, 2022*, masks in schools will be strongly recommended rather than required as announced by the State on February 28, 2022. NUSD will allow students, families, and staff members to make the personal determination of whether to wear a mask while at school. We ask that everyone be respectful of the individual decisions that staff, students, and our families make regarding masks/face coverings. We will continue to have masks available at all of our school sites and offices. Thank you for being supportive of everyone’s personal decisions.

*Events on campus starting Saturday, March 12 are also mask optional.
Natomas Middle School Students Exposed to the Symphony

Each spring, Natomas Middle School students are invited to enjoy a family concert hosted by the Folsom Lake Symphony. The symphony, geared for music education and outreach for kids and families in the community, welcomed 30 of our students and families. Our students had a wonderful time getting to experience the excitement of a live professional symphony orchestra as well as the musical lessons presented by the conductor in front of a large audience.

Celebrations
Celebrating Our Future Women Leaders during Women's History Month

In celebration of Women's History Month, we are spotlighting our Future Women Leaders of Tomorrow. Meet our first student feature, Iimaj Williams from Natomas Park Elementary School who is "wowing" family and friends with her anime artwork.

It was probably when Natomas Park Elementary’s Iimaj Williams was in the third grade that her mother Jasnese Willis noticed that her daughter had a natural talent for drawing. “She was eight years old when she drew her first piece which was a drawing of the Powder Puff Girls in Anime. I remember thinking that someone else had done it because it was so good and high-level,” recalls Willis. Since then, IIamj’s drawings have gotten better and better, and she’s already thinking about having a career as an animator. “I have encouraged her to research the occupation so that she knows what it involves and how to go about making it happen.” This Natomas Park Coyote’s future is bright, and we can’t wait to see where her talent will take her.
NUSD Recognizes School Social Workers in Celebration of National School Social Worker Appreciation Week

Monday marked the beginning of National School Social Worker Appreciation Week. Please join us in recognizing our incredible school social workers for the work they do for us each and every day, all year long. Whether it’s supporting the sites in the development of Building Our Culture of Resilience, providing direct support to students, or sitting down with families when they are struggling with the demands of life, our social workers are there on the frontline. We truly appreciate everything they do for our students and families.
