This is a brief excerpt from the NJ.gov website:

  • Free, at-home COVID-19 saliva PCR tests are available to every New Jersey resident who thinks they need a test. Order your test by visiting learn.vaulthealth.com/nj.

  • Free, at-home rapid antigen tests are available from the federal government. Order one set of 4 free at-home tests from special.usps.com/testkits.

This website also has a list of free public testing locations in New Jersey by county, including short-term pop-up testing sites:
New Way for Medicare Beneficiaries to Get Free Over-the-Counter COVID-19 Tests
Some individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) are dually eligible for both Medicare and Medicaid. Therefore, the information below may be of interest to people with IDD who are dual eligibles and their families and staff.

This is an excerpt of the announcement from the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) on free over-the-counter COVID-19 tests for Medicare beneficiaries:

"This new initiative enables payment from Medicare directly to participating eligible pharmacies and other health care providers to allow Medicare beneficiaries to receive tests at no cost, in addition to the two sets of four free at-home COVID-19 tests Americans can continue to order from covidtests.govNational pharmacy chains are participating in this initiative, including: Albertsons Companies, Inc., Costco Pharmacy, CVS, Food Lion, Giant Food, The Giant Company, Hannaford Pharmacies, H-E-B Pharmacy, Hy-Vee Pharmacy, Kroger Family of Pharmacies, Rite Aid Corp., Shop & Stop, Walgreens and Walmart."
