Dear Trinity Parents and Guardians,

Thank you for your patience while we reviewed our mask policy at Trinity.

Some of you may have already seen the memo from the Archdiocese of Chicago regarding the mask mandate. Essentially, it states that in Lake County and most of suburban Cook County, the Archdiocese of Chicago schools will be going “Mask Optional.” The exceptions include Oak Park, Chicago, and Evanston where they have a lawful order requiring masks in schools.

For almost the entire academic year, our number of Covid cases has been between 0% - 0.30%.  Presently, we are at 0.25% which is equivalent to ONE individual.

Masks were proven to be very effective these last couple of years. We have been very successful in keeping a healthy and safe environment for our Blazers, faculty, and staff. However, given our low number of cases, our high percentage of vaccinated, and in line with the Archdiocese of Chicago guidelines--as of Monday, February 14, Trinity High School will be Mask Optional. We have taken into consideration many factors to come to this decision. Should our cases increase substantially, we may choose to reinstate some mitigations. As always, we will keep you posted.

Masks are still required on buses due to the federal CDC order. Athletics will follow all IHSA rules. Look to your coaches for direction.

As a Trinity community, we pride ourselves on respecting and supporting one another. Please remind your Blazer that it is important that we are respectful of each other’s opinions and choices even if we do not agree with them (masking or not masking). And, as always, please do not send your Blazer to school sick.

Thank you for all you do to partner with us in educating and empowering your Blazer. We appreciate all of your support as we navigate this ever-changing situation.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to me directly at lcurley@trinityhs.org. Thank you.

Sincerely,
