Dear WSMS Parents and Guardians,

Welcome back from Spring Break!  We hope that you all had a wonderful time and had time to relax.  Now that we are back, I am encouraging our students and teachers to Finish Strong.  Our kids are registering for classes this week and we are hard at work to build out our schedules for the next school year.

But, before the next year gets here, I want to encourage our students to be present and to be focused so that we can wrap up this school year in a positive way.  Everyone has worked so hard this year and I would love to see that hard work continue and pay off through the end of the school year.

Thank you all again for your continued support of Willow Springs Middle School and Lovejoy ISD!

Chris

Student Successes
WSMS Philharmonic and Chamber Orchestras
The WSMS Philharmonic and Chamber Orchestras participated in the UIL Concert and Sight-reading Evaluation at Allen High School on March 1st. We are happy to report that BOTH groups received superior ratings from all six judges winning them each a SWEEPSTAKES AWARD!!

The students performed three different pieces with their ensemble and were judged on tone, technique, and musicianship. In the sight-reading portion of the contest, students were given a piece of music that they had never seen or heard before. We had seven to eight minutes to teach it to them. After the set time was up, the students  performed the piece for the judges and were evaluated.

Despite all of the obstacles these past two months have presented with attendance at school, these two ensembles have worked so hard and never settled for mediocrity! We are SO proud of them!!!!

WSMS Bella Voice Choir
This group was evaluated through the UIL Concert and Sight-Reading process. The ladies of Bella Voce received superior ratings from all adjudicators which indicates the choir exceeded expectations and were consistent in the expected technical elements such as sound, pitch, rhythm, dynamics, and artistry. This scoring earned the ensemble a Sweepstakes trophy for their hard work and accomplishment this year in choir. The WSMS choral department is led by Kelly D'Souza.
