AN IN-DEPTH LOOK AT OUR
RESEARCH GRANT CYCLE
|
|
|
|
PSC Partners and affiliate PSC Partners Canada offer two-year seed grants to conduct research that addresses an important and novel, basic, or clinical research question related to PSC and closely associated diseases (such as inflammatory bowel diseases [IBD] and cholangiocarcinoma). Each year, researchers from around the globe submit applications by our summer deadline.
Reviewing & Scoring Applications (confidential)
Determining Grant Recipients
-
PSC Partners Research Committee meets to discuss SMAC scores and comments, and makes recommendations to the PSC Partners Board of Directors.
-
The PSC Partners Board of Directors makes their final decision with a confidential vote.
- Updates are sent to all applicants, with award letters to the grant recipients.
-
PSC Partners Canada makes funding decisions independent from PSC Partners.
Research Begins
- Funding for the first year of research is dispersed, and research projects begin.
- Grant recipients provide a Year 1 progress report for review by SMAC and a lay summary for the PSC Partners website.
- Second year funding is contingent upon a successful review of the progress report.
- Grant recipients complete the 2nd year of the research project and submit a final report.
Grants Cycle Ends
Final reports are submitted by researchers. PSC Partners staff conduct internal assessments on the impact, progress, and areas for growth of the grants program.
We are committed to PSC research funding!
PSC Partners selected four research seed grants in 2022, bringing our funding total to date to nearly $6 million dedicated to PSC research.

BENEFITS OF DRUG REPURPOSING FOR RARE DISEASES:
A Conversation with Ania Korsunska
|
|
|
|
"(Drug repurposing) is an opportunity to utilize existing drugs that are in development or already approved and redirect for the rare disease space," says Korsunska. "It's potentially cheaper than novel drug development, potentially faster. It's potentially easier to get these drugs into a position that a doctor can actually prescribe them."
PSC Partners Seeking a Cure is pleased to present Living With PSC, a podcast moderated by Independent Media Producer, Director, and PSC Patient Niall McKay. Each month, this podcast explores the latest research and knowledge about PSC. Topics include patient stories, latest research updates from PSC experts, collaborations that are necessary to find better treatments and a cure, and more. This podcast has it all!
Living with PSC can also be found wherever you download your podcasts.

SUPPORT PSC PARTNERS VIA
DONOR ADVISED FUND
A donor advised fund (DAF) is a type of giving program administered by a third party that provides you with the flexibility and most favorable tax benefits to easily support your favorite charities. DAFs are designed to manage charitable donations on behalf of an organization, family, or individual and are becoming increasingly popular. They are an excellent way to simplify your charitable giving and facilitate your strategic philanthropic goals. You will receive a tax deduction when you make a contribution of cash, stock, and other assets to your donor advised fund, and, at a later time, you can grant specified amounts to the charities of your choice. Click here to learn more about the benefits and how they work.
Donor Advised Fund Widget
For your convenience, we offer a widget on our website that links to three of the top Donor Advised Fund agents. If your Donor Advised Fund agent is not listed, contact them directly. Need help? Reach out to us at contactus@pscpartners.org or 303-771-5227.

Silent thief, creeping in,
Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis, a bitter friend.
Stealing health, stealing time,
A constant battle, a never-ending climb.
Inflammation, scarring, so severe,
Bile ducts narrowing, a future unclear.
Symptoms mounting, the body in strife,
A fight for survival, day by day, life.
Treatments offered, but not a cure,
Managing symptoms, to endure.
A burden on the liver, a burden on the soul,
PSC, a battle to be whole.
But hope remains, in research and care,
In the strength and determination, of those who dare.
To fight this disease, with all they've got,
With courage and grace, they will not be brought to a stop.
So let us honor, those who live with PSC,
A disease unseen, yet a battle fierce.
We stand in solidarity, in their fight,
For a cure, and a future, where they can see the light.
Andy, thank you for sharing!
