The province has released the Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (DRIPA) action plan, developed in consultation with Indigenous peoples, outlining 89 actions across all government ministries that will be undertaken over the next five years (2022-2027) to implement the Act. FAQ on RCMP Retroactive Costs

Last month, the federal government delivered correspondence to RCMP contract partners outlining estimated retroactive amounts owed as part of the new RCMP collective agreement. Public Safety Canada, in response to follow-up questions from the Contract Management Committee and municipal contract partners, has recently released a set of frequently asked questions and answers. Local Government Awareness Week

UBCM, in partnership with CivicInfo BC and the Ministry of Municipal Affairs, is pleased to support the 2022 Local Government Awareness Week, May 15-21. This annual initiative is aimed at building public awareness of local government roles and encouraging participation in local government processes. Read more
Non-medical cannabis consumption spaces
The province has launched a public engagement on non-medical cannabis consumption spaces that will run until May 9, 2021. Interested local governments may provide input through completing an online survey or delivering a written submission. Public and stakeholder feedback will help inform decisions on whether to allow consumption spaces, and if so, the manner in which it will be done. Read more
