Cruising For Credits!
A message from Professional Opticians of Florida
In February 2023, Florida held the first-ever optician continuing education cruise where Florida licensees where able to obtain all 20 of their required education hours. All our credits were approved by the ABO/NCLE as well as for Florida credit. We had top national speakers, Phernell Walker, Carri Russell, Pete Hanlin, Bill Gerber, and Dr. Ryan Parker to name a few, presenting hours.  

The February 2023 cruise was such a huge success and we received so much great feedback that we decided to hold another cruise January 18-22, 2024. POF believes that strengthening opticianry is a national effort. After all, when one state loses licensure or licensure is weakened, we all lose. POF also believes in the importance of state associations, and we want to partner with your state association on the next CE’s on the Seas cruise, January 18-22, 2024.

What’s in it for you?

  • POF will donate $100 of every member of your state association’s registration fee that attends the cruise back to your state association via a check at the end of the cruise. Our intent is not to take away from your events, but to offer a partnership so that your members may benefit from this fun educational experience and so that your association may benefit financially as well.
  • We take all the work out of it for you! POF will get all the course approvals, create and print all the CE slips, enter each attendee into our in-house CE Tracker that keeps a record of each course attended and we will send you a list of your state attendees and courses attended, if you need that to upload into your state CE registry. If your state requires any special approvals, POF will work with you to gain those approvals. Please note, we will already be getting each course approved for ABO/NCLE credit.
  • This is a great way to promote and gain more members! Offering this event to your membership as a POF partner is a great way to encourage/retain membership to your state association.
  • Your state association log will be listed on our CE’s on the Seas website as a Cruise Partner

What’s in it for your members?

  • A fun and unique educational experience where they can earn their continuing education hours.
  • Camaraderie between states.
  • Your members will have the opportunity to become Transitions Certified during a special Transitions course that is taking place during the cruise.
  • Your members will be able to attend an Optical Trade Show on the cruise, where they can interact with vendors during the “Optical Trade Show at Sea Happy Hour”.
  • Your members will enjoy a vacation with their education that gets them out of the cold winter season and visiting Cozumel, Mexico during their CE cruise.
  • POF is working with a special travel agent who will assist your members in booking their cabin at the lowest fare available. For example, Oceanview cabins are available for $790.40 total for 2 guests, this price includes taxes, port fees, meals, and entertainment for the entire cruise. That rate is our locked in group rate, however even lower rates may be available at the time of booking.
  • Swag, swag and more swag. Your members will receive a great swag bag upon embarkment!
