Supervisor of Elections Advises Voters
On Primary Election Ballot Instructions for Gubernatorial Election

PALM BEACH COUNTY, FL – The Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections is advising voters to follow the instructions on the August 23, 2022 ballot, and only vote for one candidate in any race. Ballots throughout the State of Florida must follow the requirements of the Florida Laws. The ballots are designed in accordance with Florida Statute 101.151 and Florida Rule 1S-2.032.

In the race for Florida Governor, the ballot title reads Governor and Lieutenant Governor and that voters should “Vote for One”. Voters should only select one candidate as their party’s nomination for Governor. The candidates currently listed under the “Governor and Lt. Governor” race as set forth in Florida Statutes, have filed for and are seeking their party’s nomination for Governor.

In Florida, candidates for Governor select their Lt. Governor running mate. If candidates seeking Governor selected a Lt. Governor running mate at the time of qualifying, the ballot would include their Lt. Governor running mate (Florida Statute 99.063(4)). The term “Not Yet Designated” was removed from Florida Statute 99.063(4) as a result of Senate Bill 7066, signed into law in 2019.
