Our Mission Is To Maintain And Strengthen The City's Diversity, Equity, And Accountability.
Greetings!

I hope our latest newsletter finds you well. We are so grateful to have you engaged and involved in our efforts, and to chat with you in these biweekly newsletters!

Yesterday was the end of Daylight Saving Time, and LA Civil Rights is definitely "springing forward" with events, opportunities and programming to lift up Los Angeles communities.

Tonight, we have a Women's History Month film screening to celebrate the women leaders making change and to highlight the gender pay gap. Even now, women in the United States make 84 cents for every dollar a man is paid. For women of color, it's even worse: African American women earn 63 cents for every dollar a white man makes, and for Latinas, it's only 57 cents.

Everyone deserves equal pay for equal work, and women have been denied equal treatment for far too long. If this is an issue you're passionate about, I hope you'll join us for tonight's event.

No matter what your passion is, we're proud to have you in this fight for equity and justice. You can always get in touch with us, join our #LAForAll campaign, or attend an upcoming event to get involved.

Keep the faith and keep the fight,

- Capri Maddox

Seeking Proposals for Unarmed Crisis Response
Angelenos across the City have been asked to reimagine public safety, replacing law enforcement presence in non-violent situations with unarmed crisis response professionals. The City of Los Angeles seeks to expand the deployment of trained crisis response professionals with the intent to implement an unarmed crisis response model that would operate Citywide 24 hours per day, 365 days per year responding to non-violent calls for service impacting mental health, substance use, suicide threats, behavioral distress, conflict resolution, welfare checks, and assisting people experiencing homelessness.

In the effort to scale an unarmed crisis response system in the City of Los Angeles, organizations with knowledge of local community needs, and experience developing and deploying teams trained in trauma-informed care, de-escalation techniques, peer counseling, and racial equity perspectives, are encouraged to submit proposals improving the quality of crisis response in neighborhoods across the City. In order to maximize services throughout the City, multiple proposals in multiple neighborhoods are encouraged.

All interested proposers must attend a mandatory bidders conference held virtually: Friday, March 25, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. (Pacific Time).

A panel of City representatives will be available to answer questions from prospective proposers at the bidders conference. To maximize the effectiveness of the conference, proposers are requested to submit questions in writing in advance to CAO.RFPresponse@lacity.org no later than 12:00 noon (Pacific Time) on Wednesday, March 23, 2022.

The Unarmed Crisis Response Request for Proposal (RFP) is available to view at the new Regional Alliance Marketplace For Procurement (RAMP) portal https://www.rampla.org/
RAMP is the replacement for the previous Los Angeles Business Assistance Virtual Network (LABAVN), and a new RAMP account will be required to download the RFP. View new registration instructions here and visit https://www.rampla.org/s/support for support.

The deadline to submit the Unarmed Crisis Response RFP is Monday, April 25, 2022, at 4:00 p.m. (Pacific Time). Proposals are to be submitted via an electronic cloud-based storage format (e.g. Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive, etc.) to CAO.RFPresponse@lacity.org.

For questions and/or for more information, contact Lindsey Estes at: CAO.RFPresponse@lacity.org

Trans and Non-Binary Job Fair
Did you know that transgender and non-binary unemployment is twice the unemployment rate of the population at large? Transgender and non-binary individuals often face increased rates of discrimination and mistreatment at work that make gainful employment even more challenging.

The LA Civil Rights Transgender Advisory Council is hosting a Trans & Non-Binary Job Fair on March 31 (Trans Day of Visibility). This virtual job fair will bring employers and job seekers together to build economic stability and upward mobility for LA's transgender and non-binary community. Please note: All employers will be required to attend a Gender Inclusion & Diversity Training prior to the job fair. Click here to RSVP for our next employer training on March 16th at 9AM PST, and click the button below to RSVP for the Job Fair!
