Nurturing Belonging in the Adirondacks
All New Yorkers belong in the Adirondacks!
ADI’s Emerging Stewards Initiative works to create new generations of Adirondack stewards from BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) communities across New York State who are invested in the sustainability and longevity of the Adirondack Park.
Consisting of four programs, Claiming Space is designed for BIPOC outdoor enthusiasts of all ages. It welcomes BIPOC excursion groups; introduces participants to the region in ways that are safe, affirming and promote belonging; and promotes positive experiences that help build tourism and stewardship.

Many thanks to Steven Cacchio of Champlain National Bank, Brendan Owens of Stafford Owens, PLLC, and Kevin Richardson of Agbotic for their service to ANCA and the North Country region. | |
We also wish Olivia Dwyer, ANCA CPR Lead Program Navigator, our best as she moves on to a new role with the Adirondack Land Trust.
