Hello, everyone! I hope you are all doing well and have had a great year professionally and personally. I would like to personally invite you all to the 2022 IAA Convention and Bid Calling Championship held at the Hilton Garden Inn, West Des Moines on February 3rd through 5th. Hotel reservations and Convention info are available on our website and will be listed in this newsletter. This new venue offers many options for your family as you attend classes, such as Jordon Creek Mall, Smash Park, and surrounding shopping areas. So please bring them with you to the convention, as we all know we can't do what we do without their support. I am happy to announce we will be offering a bonus day of Real Estate CE classes on Thursday (sneak peek 4 Hour Ethics class plus more). We are also awaiting approval for more CE hours on Friday and Saturday. You will not want to miss out on this educational opportunity!
This year’s convention will be the first chance for all of us to come back together since the 2021 Convention was canceled due to the pandemic, so I am calling this year’s convention “Coming Back Strong”. I believe this year’s convention will be fun and educational for all in attendance. I have arranged for Mike Brandly, the writer of Auctioneer Blog, to speak again following his last presentation in 2014. Also, Kevin McGlothlen, 1998 World Automobile Auctioneer Champion and Southern Iowa native, to speak to us this year. Plan to attend these two industry leaders’ sessions as I believe they will have something for all of us to take back to our businesses whether it's an Estate, Automobile, Machinery, Livestock, Real Estate Auction, or any use of the Auction Method of Marketing.
At this year’s convention, we will be having our Bid Calling Championship preliminaries and finals. Someone will go home as the 2022 IAA Bid Calling Champ on Saturday. After receiving some advice from a long-time IAA supporter, I would like to introduce a new Senior Division Auctioneer Contest. This will be held on Friday evening after the Ring Person Contest and before we start our Fun Auction. The Board of Directors and I want to say a big thank you to Paul McCartan and Jim Huff for stepping up and getting the Iowa Corn Classic going this year. These two gentlemen have secured a spot at the Iowa Beef Expo for the inaugural Iowa Corn Classic Open Bid Calling Contest this February 12th.
Let’s all COME BACK STRONG and support our industry this year at the IAA Convention & Iowa Corn Classic. I can’t wait to see you all and share stories of our past couple of years, and mostly for all of you to see what we have prepared this year!
