Greetings from Dr. G
February is a month associated with the heart so it seems fitting to say THANK YOU to our parents whose love and support keeps the St. Rose School heart beating day by day. This is evidenced through the countless ways you offer your time, talent and treasure.
Last night's Home & School Association (HSA) meeting was a testament to all of the good works that have been and continue to be done on behalf of our school community. Mrs. Almeida provided a comprehensive, insightful explanation of the HSA and it's relationship to the school. And this morning's recap provided by Mrs. Sirois was a great opportunity for parents who could not attend the evening meeting.
Here are highlights from the school presentation:
-Enrollment for 2023-2024 is very strong and interest among prospective families is high. Thank you for sharing the word!
-School communications are in place and effective sources of information (The Friday Review, Adventures in Student Life and emails when necessary)
-IOWA/COGAT testing for grades 1-7 will take place March 20-30th. Stay tuned for details from teachers.
Please review the attached slides for more specifics. My sincere thanks to the HSA Board for their efforts on behalf of the school.
Our Kindergarten, First and Second graders celebrated the 100th day of school in 100-year-old fashion. The costumes and corresponding lessons were truly engaging. Seventh graders conducted muscle labs to discover if blinking is an involuntary or voluntary muscle and also learned fascinating facts about the human skeleton that culminated in naming, designing and dressing their own skeleton. We cover it all in these halls!
Someone very special to us all had a birthday yesterday -- three cheers for Mrs. B who is a gift to St. Rose School every day. May God bless her abundantly in her new year. If you haven't already, please read the latest issue of Adventures in Student Life which highlights all Catholic Schools Week activities.
Looking ahead, please note:
February 11th -- First Reconciliation for Second graders in the gathering hall
February 17th -- Early dismissal for professional development
February 20 & 21st -- Winter break
February 22nd -- school resumes; Ash Wednesday service, Lenten Mission begins
God has blessed us with beautiful, relatively mild weather these Winter days so your children are benefitting from the fresh air and exercise at recess. I hope the weekend brings more sunshine and happy family moments.
God Bless,
Dr. Bardhyl Gjoka
