Dear Prayer Partners,
The "Eyes" have it ...
Well, that's not exactly the phrase but it's fitting for the final day of camp.
Today, we wrapped up our 2nd session of Royal Family Kids Camp. It's a special day for so many reasons. It's especially memorable for the counselors and campers who have developed a special, unique bond all week. Today can be easy, full of stories from the week of camp that brought so much joy. It can also be hard because some of the campers don't want to leave. Maybe they had such a good time all week ... or maybe they know the harsh realities that face them upon their return.
The camp is for children with a history of abuse and neglect so the latter is a difficult possibility to imagine.
As one camper put it today as they were saying goodbye to the counselor at camp (they were not riding the bus but were being picked up by their foster parent out at camp), she said, "You know, it's been an amazing week. I think I kinda like this place." True words spoken by so many of our campers today.
One camper who is graduating out of our Royal Family Kids camps (ages 6-11) already told his counselor that he will be back for the weekend retreat this fall called Onward & Upward. He said, "Oh, if it's half as much fun as I've had all week, I will definitely be back to this place."
We do ask that you continue praying for these kids even as camp concludes. Lift them up in prayer this week specifically by name. Ask God to help them with their transition back home and for recollections of hope and positive memories from their week at Royal Family Kids Camp.
Blessings,
Darren
p.s. Pray for the 3rd session of camp which begins in about 10 days! It's a quick turnaround but we are already looking forward to it.
