Inflation Reduction Act Signed into Law
--Yesterday President Biden signed into law the Inflation Reduction Act. Among other things, the bill addresses improving energy efficiency and water efficiency in Affordable Housing. It will amount to nearly $1 Billion in the form of direct loans or grants to eligible properties for the express purpose of "improving energy or water
efficiency, enhancing indoor air quality or sustainability, implementing the use of zero-emission electricity generation, low-emission building materials or processes, energy storage, or building electrification strategies, or addressing climate resilience."
--It goes without saying this is a rather big deal for owners of Affordable Housing. I will be issuing a follow up with resources on how to apply for these loans or grants once that information becomes available. In the meantime, it may be a good idea to begin the process of benchmarking your buildings as that will likely be a prerequisite for establishing a baseline of your building's performance. That is something we can help with. Please feel free to reach out here.
