eNEWS TREASURE HUNT
The winner of our first eNews Treasure Hunt was Jenny Hunt! Rules of the game: twice a month we'll hide an emoji (❤️) where it doesn't belong in an article that is featured in eNews, and invite people to find it. Once you have found it, you'll fill out the form (noted below) and indicate what article you found the emjoi in. The form will close the following Monday at 9am after the eNews is published, and staff will randomly draw for the winner among those who submitted the form.
Each winner will be treated to a snack, beverage, and 1 on 1 conversation at a local café of their choice by Rev. Karen Bush (Rev KB), at a mutually agreed upon date/time.

From Sharon Neufer Emswiler: My brother-in-law, Rev. Orrell Ruth, of Grayslake, IL, died this week, just six months after the death of his wife, my sister Marcia. Orrell was my youth pastor when I was in high school and encouraged me to enter the ministry at a time when there weren’t many women in ordained ministry. He was also a great help to me in that process. Tom and I give thanks for his life and his ministry and we will miss him.
From Karen Folk: Joy that my daughter Anna is loving being back at work and sorrow that she is struggling one again with her mental illness.
From Katie Goslin: Joy to be finally joining the service today in person
From Gail Hueting: It was new to see my brother Scott without glasses after his cataract surgery. However, he stills needs at least one more procedure and is not satisfied. (This has been going on since January).
From Brian & Sylvia McDermott: Our daughter-in-law, Lu Qing, had her last interview and was sworn-in as a US citizen this past Thursday in St. Louis. On Friday, we were able to attend on-line the retirement ceremony for our friend Colonel Richard (Scot) Grammer from the US Army. Scott started his career in the Illinois National Guard, and served in both state-side and overseas deployments. Congratulations to Scott and his spouse Stephanie.
From Kathy Robinson: I have had discouraging news regarding my treatment for aggressive leukemia. The current cutting-edge protocol appears to be ineffective. There is still the possibility of a stem cell transplant from my brother, but I feel disappointed and have concerns for the difficulties that will be involved. I so appreciate the love and support of my church friends. Kathy Robinson
From Jenna Zeidler: I am in the hospital receiving treatment for a DVT and clots that traveled to my lungs. I am doing much better and have had excellent care! I hope to return home in a day or two to recuperate further.

SOCIAL ACTION OFFERING FOR APRIL 2022

RACES is the only agency dedicated to serving the needs of survivors of sexual violence in Champaign, Ford, Piatt and Douglas Counties. RACES provides counseling, court advocacy, medical advocacy, and runs a 24 hour Rape Crisis Hotline. Pre-pandemic, the agency provided counseling and advocacy services to more than 225 survivors of sexual assault each year, including supporting more than 75 people annually during the hospital medical exam and evidence collection process. RACES’ services are attuned to the needs of survivors from historically marginalized communities, including LGBTQ+ individuals.
Sexual Assault Prevention Education is an important part of the agency’s vision to end sexual violence in our lifetime: pre-pandemic, the educators reached over 4,000 children, youth and adults each year through age-appropriate prevention programs. The agency is working to match these numbers as more in-person interactions become safe. READ MORE
