TRIO Student Support Services Program Celebrates Graduates
A TRIO Academic Achievement Event celebrated LSC graduates in the TRIO Student Support Services program.

Lake Superior College’s TRIO Student Support Services advisors provide comprehensive, personalized academic support to help students reach their educational goals, including academic advising, career exploration, financial aid, scholarship applications, transfer advising, early registration and more. Students can complete an application to find out if they are eligible: lsc.edu/ApplyToTRIO.

Students and their guests dropped in to Hawks Landing throughout the day and the graduates were given a certificate and gift to acknowledge their great accomplishment. Congratulations, graduates!
Student Life Holds Earth Day Celebration, Will Continue With a Rescheduled Campus Clean-Up
Student Life greeted students at the main entrance with giveaways and information to celebrate Earth Day. Students grabbed healthy snacks, popcorn, free native flower seed mixes and more. A Miller Creek Interpretive Trail hike and a campus clean-up will be rescheduled due to weather. In the meantime, anyone who cleans up their neighborhood or favorite nature location is encouraged to send pictures to Student Life by May 4 to win a prize.

The 2021 Lake Superior College and LSC Foundation Annual Community Report debuted at the LSC Foundation Annual Dinner and Community Celebration, and it’s now available online.
LSC Aviation Open House This Friday
LSC will host an Aviation Open House this Friday, April 22, 12:00 – 3:00 p.m., at LSC’s Center for Advanced Aviation, located at Hangar 103, 4960 Airport Road in Duluth. Prospective students and their families can tour the Center for Advanced Aviation, try out the flight simulators, and learn about the Professional Pilot and Aviation Maintenance Technician programs, both of which are in high demand.   • Get ahead, stay on track, or accelerate your degree with summer classes at LSC. Classes start June 6. Visit lsc.edu/register.


  • Summer Camps and Career Exploration for youth ages 12-18 start in June. Offerings include Computer Aided Design/SolidWorks + Revit, GenCyber Intro, Robotics and Welding. The camps are free and space is limited. More at lsc.edu/camps.

  • Evening Math Tutoring with a professional math tutor Nancy Ziegler is available online, with no appointments necessary. Just drop in via Zoom, Wednesdays and Thursdays, between 3:30 and 8:30 p.m. Learn more about Nancy and find the Zoom link at lsc.edu/MathTutorPM.

  • As part of LSC's Computer User Support course, students are offering tech support on your personal (non-LSC) laptop between 12:00 and 2:00 p.m. on Wednesdays in room T170. Available through May 1. Contact shawn.mitchell@lsc.edu with questions.

  • Lake Superior College will host world-renowned sound engineer Scottie Baldwin for a presentation Tuesday, April 26, at 9:45 a.m. at the LSC Commons. Hear about his exciting, accomplished career as a front-of-house sound technician for some of music’s most iconic artists, including Prince, Lady Gaga, Madonna and many more. This free presentation is open to the public, and refreshments will be provided.

  • The LSC Council on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion invites you to the presentation, The Audacity to be Asian in Rural America, with artist Nancy XiáoRong Valentine. The presentation will be Tuesday, April 26, 12-1 p.m., at the Center for Equity and Inclusion (M125). Free lunch will be served at 11:45 a.m., and all are welcome to attend. The event is in celebration of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, in May, when we pay tribute to the generations of Asian and Pacific Islanders who have enriched the history and culture of the US.

  • Stress Less Days are planned for May 2-5, with a variety of offerings to promote physical, mental and emotional wellbeing. Activities include chair massages, visits from mini ponies, yoga, coffee and conversation and more. View the schedule.

  • You are invited to the LSC Spring Choir Concert on Thursday, May 5, at 6:30 p.m., in the LSC Commons. Special guests are the Fond du Lac Tribal & Community College Choir.

  • Summer textbooks will be available starting May 16, 2022. Shop a week early, online only, starting May 9. More at lsc.edu/textbooks.

  • Applications are being accepted for the Practical Nursing Diploma to start Fall Semester 2022. The application is open until filled. Apply at lsc.edu/ApplyToNursing.

  • The application for Professional Nursing AS to start Fall Semester 2022 will be open until May 20, 2022. Apply at lsc.edu/ApplyToNursing.

  • Applications are being accepted for the Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) program to start Fall Semester 2022. There is a critical personnel shortage for medical laboratory technicians, with significant sign-on bonuses being offered locally and regionally. The application is open until filled.   • Physical Therapist Assistant applications are open for Fall 2022. Apply online at lsc.edu/ApplyToPTA

  • Applications for the Respiratory Therapy program to start Fall Semester 2022 are being accepted now until filled. Apply at lsc.edu/RespiratoryTherapy.

  • Applications for the Surgical Technology program to start Fall Semester 2022 are being accepted. Priority will be given to students who have prerequisites completed and apply by March 1. The application is open until filled. For more information and to apply, visit lsc.edu/surgtech.
