FREE World TB Day Symposium - March 24

Did you know that before COPD, TB was the world’s leading infectious disease killer. Luckily, TB is preventable and curable. If we all work together, we can end TB once and for all!

We invite you to virtually attend the UCSF World TB Day Symposium on Friday, March 24 from 8:30AM-4:30PM.

During the Symposium, from 11:00-11:45, Breathe California and our partners from the Coalition for a TB Free California will present a Press Conference highlighting the growing number of cases of TB in California’s Asian American Native Hawaiian Pacific Islander (AANHPI), Latino, and Black communities. Join this press event.

This year's symposium, geared towards healthcare professionals who work with tuberculosis, will feature keynote talks and panel discussions by local and international leaders in TB research, policy, clinical and programmatic practice, and advocacy. Online registration will close at 5:00PM tomorrow, so please register for the symposium here today!

The Air District Phases Out More Natural Gas Appliances

Bay Area Air Quality Management District has approved new rules allowing only zero-emission gas furnaces and water heaters in the construction of new buildings starting in 2027. 82 other U.S. cities and counties have taken similar steps, nearly all planning to phase out gas stoves in new construction. Gas appliances have been shown to emit nitrogen oxide at unsafe levels in homes and are linked to coughing, wheezing, childhood asthma, and a greater risk of respiratory infections. The change is expected to prevent over 80 premature deaths and dozens of new asthma cases in the region each year. Learn more.
