Dear Sato Supporter,

My team and I are on the ground in Puerto Rico right now hard at work. We have over 250 dogs and cats to prepare for their life-changing Freedom Flight! Thank you so much to each one of you who has donated so far toward Mission Possible 15 – our upcoming double-plane mission on August 27. This massive undertaking truly would not be possible without your support.

We have several satos scheduled to fly on Mission Possible 15 who are still looking for their forever homes. Keep reading to check out who is still available, learn about some new partnerships, and meet one sato who recently had all their dreams come true. We can't wait to make 250 more dreams come true on August 27.

As always, thank you for being in our sato corner and helping us save lives every day.

In gratitude,

-- Chrissy Beckles, President & Founder
Adoptable Satos Looking for Homes
Clockwise from top: Clark, Sofie, Sonia and Azabache are still looking for their new families. Meet all of our adoptable satos here.
We have several dogs scheduled to fly to New York who are still looking for their forever homes! After taking off from San Juan on August 27th, our two airplanes flying as part of Mission Possible 15 will be dropping animals off in Florida, New York, and Maine. Upon landing on the mainland every animal will either go directly to their new family, a foster home, or to a trusted shelter partner.

Sonia, Sofie, Azabache, Clark and several more pups are still waiting for their new families to find them. Is your family looking for its newest member? Click here to see our satos who are still waiting to be adopted. Prefer our team to play matchmaker? Submit an adoption application here.

Would you rather go to a shelter and find your new family member in person? Mission Possible 15 will be flying animals to Animal Haven (NYC), Paws Crossed Animal Shelter (NY), Kent Animal Shelter (NY), Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland (ME), and Humane Society of Broward County (FL). As of August 27th, all of these trusted shelters will officially have adoptable satos in their care.

Are you a veteran of the US Armed Forces? Through a new partnership with ProNet International Gifts and Scholarships, The Sato Project is proud to offer subsidized adoption fees for veterans. If you are a veteran, be sure to mention that in your adoption application and our team will give you more information on how to apply for financial assistance.
Support our rescue efforts through two commercial partnerships this month

This month, we have two partnerships offering limited-edition merchandise supporting The Sato Project’s rescue efforts.

If you haven’t grabbed one yet, the HuggleHounds sato toy is still available. This partnership means a lot to us because it commemorates Boom Boom, our Founder Chrissy Beckles’ first sato who inspired everything we do at The Sato Project. She was rescued from devastating conditions at the Arecibo Municipal Shelter, and Chrissy vowed to Boom Boom that she would fight for the satos living in horrific situations like hers. This vow led to the founding of The Sato Project, and everything we do today. You might recognize Boom Boom as the pup on our logo, a daily reminder of the importance of our efforts. And now she is also a special dog toy! Get your Boom Boom toy today while they’re still available.
The Mutt Dog is a Massachusetts-based clothing brand that raises money for shelters and rescue organizations. The Mutt Dog company's founder is also the father to a sato named Neptune. Just like Boom Boom, Neptune has inspired his family to give back, too. This month, The Mutt Dog team has been featuring us on their Instagram account to help raise awareness of our rescue efforts and created a special line of merchandise in honor of our upcoming Freedom Flight with our partner Wings of Rescue. 100 percent of the proceeds from this merchandise will go towards Mission Possible 15.

Pansy's Howling Success
Clockwise from top: Pansy during her rescue. Pansy and her new family. Bottom: Pansy and her sister Zinnea just before their in-cabin Freedom Flight. Since their rescue in May, Pansy and her three sisters have all flown to their forever families.
Pansy was found dumped in a box at Dead Dog Beach in May with her sisters Irene, Petal and Zinnea. When we received the call to rescue them we were told that there was sighting of seven satos. However, by the time we reached them, there were only four puppies. We discovered that people came and took three of the seven puppies and left Pansy, Zinnea, Petal and Irene to fend for themselves.

Pansy and her sisters came into our program and, after going through our vetting process, were some of the first satos to stay at The Sanctuary by The Sato Project. They had the honor of breaking in our pools, ball pits and all the other fun stuff! Now, thanks to this community, all four of these satos have graduated to living the happy lives they deserve with families of their own.

Pansy’s mom, Lori, found out about The Sato Project while searching for a new dog on Petfinder. In January, their family Labrador, Lily, passed away and left behind a huge void in their hearts. Last month they decided they were finally ready to start looking for another dog to share their love with. When they saw a picture of Pansy (now Luna) it was love at first sight. Lori’s son wanted a German Shepherd, while she wanted another Labrador. Pansy looked like a mix of them both! “I love the lab breed and my son loves the German Shepherd breed. When we saw Luna looked like a baby Shepherd in need of love…. We decided it was meant to be.” Lori says.

Pansy took her in-cabin Freedom Flight on July 18 and completely stole her new family’s hearts. Lori says: “She’s such a beautiful addition to our lives! We rush to get home to her every day... She plays and snuggles and seems sooooo adjusted to her new home with us! She’s the most amazing little girl we’ve ever known!”

Pansy confirmed it was really meant to be when she suddenly started barking at precisely 8:45pm - the exact same peculiar habit that Lily used to do. “My lovely girl lab Lily passed away in January. We didn’t think we’d ever find another like her! Lily used to bark every night at 8:45 pm for just a few minutes. Luna did the same last night (she almost never barks normally) at the same time. Lily’s spirit is with her.” Lori says.

Congratulations, Pansy! We are so happy you are with the family you were destined for.

The Sato Project is dedicated to rescuing abused and abandoned dogs in Puerto Rico, where there are an estimated 500,000 stray dogs and a combined euthanasia rate of 94% across all municipal shelters. In 10 years, we have rescued nearly 6,000 dogs, rehabilitated them with the highest standards of veterinary care, and found them loving homes on the mainland U.S. We are also working to make permanent change on the island through community outreach and no-cost spay/neuter and vaccine programs.
