Across the district, GGUSD schools celebrated California Day of the Teacher on May 8. GGUSD has the absolute best teachers and librarians on the planet! We have immense pride in our exceptional teachers and librarians and all that they do to support the success of our students!

Santiago High School Recognizes Early College Academy Students

Recently, Santiago High School hosted a special celebration to recognize the 50 high school seniors who are the second cohort to graduate from the Early College Academy program, graduating high school with up to 40 college credits through Santa Ana College. These scholars have a competitive advantage as they enter college with so many courses already completed! Thank you to Santa Ana College Director of Dual Enrollment, Dr. Refugio Rodriguez, who presented students with certificates and congratulated them on this amazing accomplishment! Congrats to our ECA students! We know you will do well on your path to lifelong success (Goal 3). Go CAVS! #GGUSDPride #GGUSDGoalGetters

GGUSD Schools Celebrate Seniors

Garden Grove High School recently hosted its Senior Awards Night to celebrate the many academic accomplishments of the Class of 2024. These GGHS seniors are well-equipped for college and career success (Goal 3)! The event celebrated an array of accolades and impressive scholarships including two students, Maxwell Hoang, and Melanie Alba, who were awarded full-ride scholarships from the U.S. Army to attend West Point! Congrats Argos! #GGUSDPride #GGUSDGoalGetters

GGUSD Celebrates May as Mental Health Awareness Month

At its meeting recently, GGUSD’s Board of Education, Superintendent and district leaders show their support for Mental Health Awareness Month by sporting green pins and bracelets provided by Trustee Walter Muneton who is also a professional social worker. GGUSD is committed to equipping students with both the academic (Goal 1) and personal skills (Goal 2) for lifelong success (Goal 3).


Over the years, GGUSD has greatly increased mental health and wellness supports for students, staff and families with the launch of a Choose Wellness campaign in 2019, expansion of its ASPIRE program which provides direct mental health counseling to students, the addition of Wellness Centers at school sites, regular wellness workshops for families and staff, and more. 

GGUSD Recognizes National School Nurses Day

On May 8, GGUSD celebrated National School Nurses Day. We are grateful for GGUSD's incredible school nurses for their dedication, care, and the countless ways school nurses keep our schools and students healthy. Our school nurses help students stay focused and ready to learn by caring for their healthcare needs, which directly impacts their academic success.

Heritage Computer Science Academy Celebrates Cinco de Mayo

Heritage Computer Science Academy's Cinco de Mayo Celebration was an unforgettable fiesta of culture, technology, and community! From the vibrant decorations to the many cultural performances, the day was a perfect blend of celebration and learning. A huge shoutout to everyone who participated and made the event a success.

GGUSD Celebrates May as Asian American-Pacific Islander Heritage Month

May is Asian American-Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month and as part of our annual social media campaign, we will be spotlighting AAPI staff and students. GGUSD is proud of our diversity including that 35% of our student population is Asian. We love joining with our communities to celebrate our diverse cultures and providing ALL students with safe and welcoming schools (Goal 2). Our first highlight comes from Jordan, a student from Marshall Elementary School!

At its meeting recently, GGUSD's Board of Education honored our impressive Class of 2024 valedictorians who have made impressive contributions to their campus and communities and have exciting plans for the future! The Board loved hearing about their accomplishments and their college and career goals as they take their next steps toward lifelong success (Goal 3)!

GGUSD High Schools Host College-Signing Day Events

GGUSD's eight high schools are celebrating hundreds of college-bound seniors with festive College Signing Day events, complete with music, cake, student performances, and photo stations. At each College Signing Day event, students are photographed proudly holding signs displaying which colleges they plan to attend.


College Signing Day events are an annual tradition in GGUSD, celebrated in April and May in alignment with California State and University of California college commitment deadlines.


GGUSD is consistently a leader in college readiness with 59.8% of GGUSD’s Class of 2024 scholars meeting rigorous college entrance requirements qualifying students to attend UC or CSU schools, compared to 57.3% across Orange County and 52.4% at the state level.
