Celebrate the NC Science Festival at Kaleideum with Two-Day Star Party, STEM & Innovation Expo
STEM & Innovation Expo April 9
The Stem & Innovation Expo, part of the NC Science Festival, will feature a wide variety of hands-on activities and demonstrations highlighting research from academic institutions and research labs around the city. You’ll investigate pathways to STEM careers while exploring the city’s innovation and STEM ecosystem. There will be demonstrations and inquiry-based programming from drone experts, biotechnology partners, robotics teams, computational thinkers, and other STEM professionals. In addition, Novant Health will be on-site with a COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic for ages 5 and up.

Join us for this great family event in Kaleideum’s beautiful 18-acre outdoor environmental park with live music, food trucks, and science!

All NC Science Festival events are included with admission or membership. Admission tickets for April 9 are $5 per person if you buy in advance online.

Star Party Day One
Friday, April 8
9 am-1 pm and 7-10 pm

Explore the universe at the Statewide Star Party weekend at Kaleideum North! Learn about telescopes, constellations, and galaxies in the night sky and enjoy astronomy related activities around the museum. Continue your wonder and curiosity at our evening star observation Friday night at the Pilot Mountain Visitor Center from 7 to 9 pm.

Saturday, April 9
10 am-2 pm

Activities will be set up around the Planetarium entrance with a focus on the James Webb Space Telescope. Planetarium shows are at 11 am, Noon (Laser Special), 1 pm, 2 pm, 3 pm, and 4 pm (Laser Special). Stop by the Kaleideum circle parking lot at sunset for a FREE star observation with Forsyth Astronomical Society from 8 to 10 pm.

Join us for Kaleideum Invention Convention, the regional competition that allows students to successfully engage in problem-solving and design thinking. On Saturday, April 30, frm 10:30 am-2:30 pm, students will display and present their inventions to judges and their peers.

Kaleideum Laser Specials are daily at 4 pm and Noon on Saturdays. Tickets are on sale at the Welcome Desk: $2 members and $3 for non-members.

LITTLE INNOVATORS IS EVERY SECOND SATURDAY AT KALEIDEUM NORTH
Little learners get a head full of STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and math) with interdisciplinary and hands-on learning. Designed for curious preschoolers, these playful activities focus on themed materials and then expand outward with storytelling, project-based learning, science, discovery, artifact viewing and classroom exploration.

Little Innovators occurs every second Saturday. $5 per member; $8 per non-member. (Ticket includes one adult with one pre-K innovator; adult must attend with child.) Museum admission is not included.
Kaleideum’s Homeschool/Small Group Programs are planned programs that occur monthly for homeschoolers and small groups of 10 or fewer students during the school year. Pre-registration is required.

What is the Cost of a Home School Program?

  • Each program is $5.50 per student in addition to the museum admission cost.

What Is the Home School Museum Admission Cost?

  • $4 per child for school-age children (grades K-12) living within Forsyth County
  • $6 per child for school-age children (grades K-12) living outside Forsyth County.
  • One parent is free; second parent is $6.

What is the total cost if I want to sign my child up for a Home School Program?

  • A Forsyth County school-age child who does a program would have a total cost of $9.50.
  • An out-of-county school age child who does a program would have a total cost of $11.50.

PLEASE NOTE:

  • The home school admission prices are in effect on any day that Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools are in session.
  • Proper home school identification is required.
  • On Saturdays, summer months, school holidays, snow days, and teacher work days, regular admission rates apply.
GUEST ENGAGEMENT PROGRAMS
Kaleideum educators are out on the floor interacting with guests throughout the week. These programs are free with paid admission/membership.
