Hello DSC Community,


It has been a very warm welcome from everyone I have met with so far and I am very excited to be on board! As part of my orientation, I have been learning about the initiatives discussed in the Town Hall meeting in December and my goal here is to provide a quick update on those initiatives:


  • The Member Council was restarted in January. Scott Neifert was elected as the Member Council Chair and the group has established a regular monthly meeting cadence. The Member Council is still forming and establishing itself. If you are interested please reach out to participate.
  • The strategic planning process is underway. We had our first session on February 5th with strong participation from the Board, representatives from the Racing, Member, and Cruising councils, and engagement by the staff, including myself. Our next session will be March 5th and we will be focused on coming up with the key strategies that will be pursued over the next three to four years. We have a third session scheduled in early April and I hope to have a finalized plan ready for Board approval by May at the latest.
  • Also, we are gearing up for our capital fundraiser in March. In the survey we conducted for the strategic planning process, the number one issue raised by the members, in the short term AND in the long term was Fleet Maintenance. John O’Riordan has identified a number of specific items needed to get the boats into good shape – and we need financial donations to make that happen. Look for emails about this coming out in March – and thank you in advance for your continued support!
