Season of Listening

This summer, Pastor Sean is creating a Season of Listening at Nativity and has cleared his schedule to make time to meet with disciples in their homes or in the office (whichever is easier). This is a time to get to know one another better and share your thoughts. He is available on Tuesdays from 12pm to 8pm and Wednesdays from 12pm to 8pm (note the evening times to make it more convenient for working families). Please contact Michele Grush at admin@nativityarden.org or call the church office at 684-0352 to setup a meeting.

Nativity's Memorial Garden

God's presence is in full bloom in our Memorial Garden. Many thanks to Andra Nus for her care of this sacred space. Have questions about our Memorial Garden? Email admin@nativityarden.org or call the Church Office at 684-0352. Photo credit: The Neals

Author Talk: David Schaeffer

On Wednesday, May 22 at 6pm, Grace Lutheran in Hendersonville will host an Author Talk in their Fellowship Hall. David Schaeffer, whose late parents (William B. “Bill” and Mary Schaeffer) were one-time Grace members, will be leading a discussion of his book Letters from Sweden which is about his parents' love story and life. In his words, "This non-fiction book tells the true story of my father’s quest to find a wife, to survive the war (Battle of the Bulge and invasion of Germany – where he was injured), find his place in the ministry, and sustain and grow his love for his fiancée back in Greenville (my mother) through hundreds of romantic and Godly letters from Sweden."  All are welcome.

Nativity's Annual Mulch and Outdoor Work Day

is scheduled for Saturday, May 18 from 9am to noon (rain or shine unless thunder & lightning). Please join the Yard Guard to help us get the church grounds in shape for spring and summer. The rainy weather has put us behind in our efforts, and we could really, REALLY use some help. Any amount of time you can spare will make it easier for all of us and be appreciated. Our sponsored Boy Scout Troop 8 will be participating.

The Lord's Acre - No Work Session Today

Come for Friday morning harvest time, 8:30am

There will no need for a Thursday evening work session this week. (We will meet next Thursday, May 16) However, we need harvesters to pick lettuce this Friday morning at 8:30am.We pick delicate veggies in the morning late in the week so they’ll be crisper and fresher for Saturday distribution. Please let Martha Vining at viningmartha@yahoo.com know if you can help Friday morning. If you'd like to read News from The Lord's Acre in its entirety, please click here.

Calvary Food Pantry

is celebrating 15 years of fulfilling God’s mission to feed the hungry! Last Saturday, over 120 households visited CFP for help with groceries. One of the clients’ first friendly faces was Carol Copeland distributing federal food (TEFAP), always with a great smile and hearty laughter. Tom Walker assisted clients as they wound their way through the aisles with their grocery carts, swapping stories in Spanish and English. Kim Baldwin could be found very early on Saturday morning, efficiently putting the finishing touches on the shelves and ensuring that volunteers were welcomed and informed. Heather Neal showed a new 9th-grade volunteer how the client-shopping model works while they helped both brand new clients and old friends.

We invite you to join us! If you’d like to know more, contact Karen Rich at at 242-6403 and to sign up click here.

congregation council

Congratulations to Our Newly Elected Council Members!

The Nativity Constitution requires the congregation to elect the council President, Vice President and four council members. The existing council then elects two members. We had eight open positions and eight candidates for this election which happily means all the candidates will be members of the 2024 Nativity Council. Thanks to each of them for their willingness and dedication to serve.
